Just spent 4 days at Salt Fork state park lodge, did some serious tubing, skiing, and catfishing.
I was throwing chunks of chicken liver on gnarly size 1 hooks hoping to catch a monster, but didn't catch anything over 14" The lake is known for huge (40lb+) catfish and musky.

Planning to be out on Saturday to pre-fish for my upcoming championship bass tournament. Its supposed to be in the 90's so the fish should be on the deep weed lines. This lake is stacked with pigs so hoping I'll have pics to post.
Good luck to anyone getting out soon!Tolerance and apathy are the last virtues of a dying society. ~ Aristotle

Finally got out and waded a local river Saturday afternoon. Only caught 3 crappie, 2 smallies, and 2 bluegill but headed back to the car early because the fuking bugs were unbearable. Up under my glasses, in my ears, my mouth, biting my neck and shoulders, it was awful.
Couple quick ones.

Last year's winner took home $20k + kayak, Avet reel, custom rod, misc prizes... all for a measly 6'2" Bull shark.
The only time we've ever fished it was 2012, my wife won Women's division with a 6'1" Bull and got $1,250 + a Malibu Pro Explorer, Avet 2 speed reel, custom rod.

She is a 25' hydrasport with twin 225 mercury EFIs.
Tops out around 63. I could have the props cupped to break 65 I'm sure but it is so horribly inefficient at top speeds I just roll with it. My buddy helped me sand down and re spray the cowlings, the south Carolina sun wreaks havoc on most anything left outside.
Thanks for the pic Hairy. Not able to format it properly as I'm on an ipad unfortunately.

Recently bought a 17' Coleman canoe. Got a steal of a price on it. Brought it home and found a couple cracks. Did some research and found out these things are made out of HDPE so I had to weld the plastic in from a minute maid juice jug. Decided on a canoe over a kayak because of price, room, and because I usually go fishing with a buddy. After this one is done I might start saving up for a Hobie. Get some offshore fishing in. Das it mane
Plan on fixing it up, attach a trolling motor on it and add rails on it so I can attach things like rod holders, fish finder, etc. in the end it will be a pretty badass little rig. Should do great in these local lakes and slow moving rivers. I'll attach pics when it gets light out.
Should turn out to something similar like this:

That will be bad ass when complete. I am a huge fan of canoes over kayaks. I Grew up fishing out of a canoe. Good times. There were a lot of ponds and lakes where I grew up only accessible to canoes and kayaks. Made for great fishing.

Closer pics of your wife?
I grew up with canoes but have fallen in love with the stability of kayaks, as well as how friendly they are towards fishing gear (fishing ones anyway). BRB, standing in my kayak all day, doesn't even feel right to cast sitting on the water anymore.12-5-23

Negative on the wife pics. Too many creepy lurkers on BB, though they are probably not on the OR section of misc.
You are Right that kayaks have come a long way in the last ten years. I live in an area called the lowcountry, with tons of creeks and Estuaries, along with easy access to the atlantic. Fishing from kayaks has gotten huge here. There are plenty of spots you could ever get a boat into easily accessible by yak. Brb tailing redfish all winter...
There is marsh that connects to the ICW at the end of my neighborhood. I am trying to devise some sort of dolley system to transport my imaginary canoe/kayak/SUP down to the marsh.

I took the boat out Saturday, only my 2nd time taking it out. First time pulling the boat with the truck big difference than the Trailblazer. Bought 3 dozen minnows and didn't even get one crappie bite. Might have to try on another part of the lake. As the day went on the lake was getting pretty busy with everyone wanting to water ski. Usually prefer to go during the week days.
I never try anything I just do it!

I do a little bit of fishing. My favorite is river fishing but i do a little bit of everything. Top species for me are steelhead trout and flathead catfish(goat gamefish)

If fishes in the river are well fed, they will not take the bait.
