For surface I use 8 or 9ft but for yoyoing I use a 7ft. The californians are a good bang for the buck as they use phenix blanks

So strange to me that you guys cast metals and **** topwater with conventional reels. Nobody really does that offshore on the east coast. All spinning gear mostly, metal topwater and yo yoing doesn't even happen.

I have been too.. I'm dreaming off a fully restored late 70's early 80's seacraft but the time is just not right. Need to buy a truck before a boat. Need to pay off some student loans before the truck so I'm a ways away lol.

I got a bunch of fishing chit for Christmas. Got my first bait casting combo. Starting to get the hang of bait casting. Got a 9 foot surf rod and another 7 foot spinning rod. Also, got a kick ass tackle box. Can't wait for this weekend to properly try everything out providing the weather cooperates.

I've been looking at boats myself. But I need to put a tow package on my SUV. I'm not looking for anything too large. Just something to take on the lakes or inshore waters.

Got out on the ice Sunday with Nawsayin and got into a decent crappie, bluegill, yellow perch bite. Fished from 930 to about 5 and could have kept a decent mix of fish. Didn't keep anything since I didn't feel like cleaning fish. Hole hoped on 5 to 6 different locations before settling in on one of the first spots we started on.

Was a good day overall. Looking to go back out to the same area on Saturday with my dad and grandpa. Hope they are still there so I can put them on some fish.

Went duck hunting, ended up catching some fish. Had a fish on and some birds came in, held the pole down with my boot and shoot a redhead, picked the pole up and fish was still there.

What’s the limit on Reds there? My region is one between 18”-28”.

3 fish, slot is 20-28 anything over that you have a tag for and get 2 tags per year. My area of the coast is 5 specks 15-25, 1 fish over 25.

How you been dude? Fish camp back up and running? Nice bunch of meat you got there. Funny this year a good amount of reds got caught up here by me.

Really good man, been really busy with hunting season. Got antelope and deer in the freezer but struck out on Elk.

Fish camp survived Harvey fairly well, we patched her all up and put a cover on the travel trailer and I haven't been back since October. We were pretty close on this last trip, camping on an island about 10 miles away but couldn't make the run over there to due to bad wind conditions in the bay, other side would not be protected and that bay gets mean. I hope my trucks haven't completely rusted through, brake drums probably seized by now not sure what to expect. This is the longest I've left it unattended.

Damn. I want to keep 3 Reds.

You can have them, I hate cleaning Reds. LOL... I have a deal with my buddy AND my kids, don't care if there's 1 Red and 100 trout I'll do all the trout if they knock out the Reds.

Went to a fishing show Saturday and got me some new fancy lures hehe

Hit the ice on Friday after work and got skunked. Temps went from 40 on Thursday to a high of 4 on Friday. I think that cold front had the fish all tight lipped. I saw a few come in and look at my jigging spoon, but no takers. They didn't even hit a straight up live shinner minnow on a hook.

Hoping the warming trend going into the weekend fires them up.
