I've been dreaming of a trip like that. How much did it cost you in total?

Took the day off yesterday to chase some smallies. Didn't have time to run all the way up to Mille Lacs so I stayed local on a small river system near my house. Caught 5 with the biggest being 3.75lbs. All caught on a "orange belly craw" Strike King 1.5 KVD Squarebill crank. Twas a good day.

Well, I winterized the boat over the weekend. 34 degrees and snowing.
See you all next spring. Not sheriff I'm going to make it.

Finally got my boat out again for the first time since the engine in my tow vehicle blew last spring. Get out to the lake and launch and realize my fishing license is expired. Thankfully the lake is only 5 mins from my house and it was nice to at least get out on the water again. Can fish year round here so its all good.

Nice! Used to fish Fork with my dad and uncle back in the early 90s when it was really pumping out big fish. Our winters are definitely the consolation prizes for enduring the miserable summers. Get in the right spot and you can have a handful of great bass lakes around you with short drives.

Anyone else fished with these $50 AG Black Maxes? They're awesome for the money and you can buy them straight off the rack at Walmart. Between me, my pops and my uncle we have 8 of them and have had zero issues after several years of use.

Personally, I only use spinning reels like that for lighter tackle/smaller fish like perch and crappie. I use baitcasters for bass because I can cast and control the bait more accurately with them plus I like the low profile feel. What reel you use has a lot to do with the fish you're going after and your personal fishing style.

Thread is relevant to my interests. Last weekend. Was pretty damn nice for October. If we go this weekend my son will be wearing snow boots.
