hahaha fuk yeah dude, we stayed at punta colorada. Lots of good surf fishing too so bring a surf rod and spinning reel and some spoons! One day we literally caught striped marlin till my hands were bleeding...fukkers were everywhere, using light tackle like 25-30lb test made it fun as shi.t. Litterally we wouldnt be trolling for more than 10 minutes everytime before we would see one or have one hit the teasers. Multiple double hookups too. Probably one of the most fun days fishing ive ever had!

I've heard great things about Carlyle, Kincaid, Rend Lake, and Devils Kitchen..
I live about 2 hours north of Carbondale, I'll be heading down to Kincaid, Rend Lake, and Devils Kitchen for Bass fishing in a few weeks .
Don't worry about spending a bunch of money on fishing poles/lures etc.....I catch all of my Carppie on warms, GREEN Crappie jigs, and minnows.

I've caught countless bass, muskie, perch, crappie, etc. But never a trout. Gonna try fly fishing this year but heavy rains are keeping the waters rushing so far. They just stocked a bunch of rainbows in a lake nearby, might go tomorrow if I can get the time. How do I catch them?
Also, how do you guys kill and take home fish for eating? Do you kill right away? How? Do you bring ice with you to the lake? Not sure wtf to do but if I catch some rainbows I might wanna eat them.12-5-23

for stocker size trout, use the lightes line 4lb test max. little tiny hook with a small split shot 18" up from the hook. little bit of powerbait, or a couple power eggs, or some salmon eggs, something like that for bait. cast it out and just let it sit there. check it occasionaly for weeds on your bait. if its a little shallow lake and im fishing from shore, i like to start at the deepest spot.
i only keep walleyes or crappie so if im on my boat i usually try to keep them alive as long as possible in the well. then just throw them on ice in a cooler on the way home. if i was trout fishing from the shore and wanted to keep some, i would throw them on a stringer and toss em in the water near me.

We almost went to Crab Orchard Sunday, but I didn't want to stay too long because I had to work Monday and hate getting back in town late. Ate lunch at 17th Street Bar & Grill in Murphysboro, good stuff. Her dad fishes in tourneys all over the place and knows the lakes pretty well. But he also knows a lot people and they share info of the spots to fish, who's been catching what, where, etc.

im shocked at how cheap some bass boats are. I was looking at bass trackers and brand new ones on their website are at 8-10k. soon.jpg can't wait to get out of college and get a job. granted they don't have 200hp motors but heck i don't need a fast one just to fish in my free time
will it ever be mine turn for a Nitro Z9???!?! HNNNNGHHHH***Misc Hunting and Fishing Crew***

Used to fish all the time on my family's montana property lake. Then the ******* state government decided they wanted to see how much water was in the lake so it had to be dredged. Pretty sure there was some legal hoodwinking going on, but the deed is done.
Haven't had good sized fish for years now and its silted up. Soon.jpg I hope. Still good lakes around to fish in but the convenience was nice. Dem rainbow trouts.

dude if youre not that hardcore, mono is really all you need. its the cheapest and pretty versatile. i mostly use fluorocarbon, less stretch = more sensative. it also sinks. mono floats. braid is cool for many applications, i just dont like to use it personally because to me its a pain to work with.

ok, good, ... I'll do a little more research before grabbing whatever I get next time, just needed a light line to try my hand a lake rainbows.
Does like go bad ever or pick up too much spool memory over time? Lines I have had sitting around for 10+ years, are they still good?12-5-23

Looking on Ebay and I can get a Quantum Smoke Reel for $150 shipped. Very, very tempting!
Hope everyone gets to wet a line somewhere this weekend. I have tomorrow off so I'll be shore fishing the Mississippi River tomorrow.Tolerance and apathy are the last virtues of a dying society. ~ Aristotle
