My dad is tough as nails, and the only time I have ever seen him in pain was when he had a kidney stone 15 years ago. That **** must be painful.

have a skinny friend that spends $200/month on whey and he recently passed a stone and he was in so much pain that he's almost afraid to take in protein now. but then again, stones have run in his family. some ppl can eat a crap load of protein and not get stones.

Laser is only used for certain locations of the stone. For eg. extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy is not used if stone is near the ureter-bladder junction. In this case they insert a ureteroscope up the urethera.

what about red bull? I drink 4 cans of red bull (250ml) every day.

Had one but was small enough that it didn't require any treatment. Woke up with immense pain about 2 AM. When I was in the ER for the first few minutes I was getting so impatient about getting pain meds I was ready to lash out at the nurses.
