After seeing a hard workout you may want to complain and want others to pity you for the work you have to do. Your mom will pity you. Your girl will pity you. I may pity you, but your competition will not pity you. They will step on you, walk over you and spit on you. Boris Sheiko

Hey guys thanks.
I have been lurking with the occasional post. Just too lazy to update my log.
Nearly done this round of Candito. It's gone well, but the amount of time spent in the gym is causing me to just stick with 531 for now. If I had a home gym setup I could see myself dedicating the 4-5 days needed to make the program work, but right now I prefer to stick to 3 x week and then spend some time outside the gym being active in other capacities.the latest and greatest in training...or whatever.

I'm not concerned about prepping for the first meet. I just wanted to try the program out.
Good program, but considering I am rebuilding my total at this point in time and trying to lose weight, a simple program like 531 is more in line with my goals.
I am doing the meet simply to do it. I have no illusions with what I will lift come November so I'm in it more to learn what to expect next time I venture into something a little more seriously.
As for activities.
Running
Soccer
Golf
Basketball
more time with my wife and dog
etc.
I want to do meets, but I'm not going to try and wrap my training around that one goal.
It's one of those things where I prefer to just get stronger and I will compete in meets when they come up and I might focus a little more closely closer to the date ensuring I don't **** the bed.
edit:
tldr
My Squat and Bench Numbers are close to where they were a while back before a rash of injuries, I just know I can get there and beyond with a simpler program and less time in the gym.
Deadlift still in the ****ter, but slowly getting better.
double edit:
I am also trying to increase some of my freelance work on video projects as well and plan on making another film this winter. So I just need more flexibility and time spent elsewhere while still getting the results I want.Last edited by Filmbuff81; 09-22-2014 at 01:11 PM.

I say f*ck all the over thinking and do a damn meet. Then decide if you love it enough to stick to a program and when you do find someone that is better than you and learn from them. Simple and effective plan.

Good deal. People often talk about program hopping when they can't even get through a week of a program with out making adjustments and all that. I swear if I would have even been smart enough to stick with a program when I started serious lifting in my mid 20s I would be totaling elite by now

hahah yeah for sure.
Aside from the occasional foray into an experiment with programming I've stuck with 531 (in some capacity) over the last few years probably 80-90% of the time. I really should have just stuck to it 100% of the time, but I can't worry about that now.
This year has been full of stops n starts but I've managed to rebuild my lifts even with all the dumbness so I'm happy in that regard.
But I know if I had just stuck to **** I would be much further along.the latest and greatest in training...or whatever.
