Newer research also suggests that exposure to parasites and similar also significatly lowers the risk of diabetes and Insulin resistance
which is greatly related to immunogenic processes

What is the life expectancy in these 3rd world countries where everyone has worms?

Repped very interesting OP
I have mild UC (almost after in remission after my first flare up which has lasted 6 months) and in my opinion chrones must be far worse to live with.
I am doing my for my 3rd year projects (biomedical sciences) in malaysia this summer on human host parasites and I'll happily add any relivant infomation I can get on this topic for you.

I would highly recommend you do your own research. Not heard about it as a treatment as for the thyroid, but there is a high chance it is an option give it is an autoimmune affliction. Join the FB group I linked to in the OP, I'm almost certain someone in there will have experience of it and be able to advise better.
Good stuff. I will have a look through.
Exactly. Once all the research was done, it came down to risk/reward, which made it a no brainer in the end.
It's hard to say, as there is quite spectrum of malnourishment across the 3rd world. Worms only become a factor in life expectancy if you are heavily infested and are malnourished. No danger with a western diet and strictly controlled dose of worms.
My Crohn's is not as bad as some people's, but still can kick my ass occasionally.
My only regret if this works long term, will be not have done it earlier. I already have some permanent scarring caused over the last 10 years of active disease, which potentially could be prevented (assuming this works). Bear that in mind if you even consider giving this s a go yourself.
Good luck with your parasite studies. Nottingham and Edinburgh University are currently researching this area right now. Have linked to some of the stuff in OP. If I can assist in anyway, let me know.
Cheers. Yeah... they aint pretty, but they live up my butt, so IDGAF what they look like as long as they work.
Good luck to your bro brah. I dunno if he smokes, but my disease eased quite a bit after I quit.
Updates won't be that often, so shouldn't be that hard to find latest one. Also, I've lost the ability to edit the OP for some reason. Any ideas?Jan 2010 - 132lbs

Just realised my weight and avi is massively out of date.
I’ve been ill on and off since August 2011, I’ve not been able to eat, and therefore, train properly, for all that time. To compound all this I have been on a highish dose steroids from docs (Budesonide) for last 3 months to control inflammation. These aren’t anabolic ones unfortunately, In fact they are catabolic, so encourage my body to break down muscle and bone. Sucks.
Anyway, just done a weigh in and I’m down to 69kg, so lost a massive 15kg in 7 months!

As I said, I’m feeling somewhat better right now and appetite has come back, so I’m going to start back training today. Will post weight in future updates.
Fingers crossed for muscle memory.

UPDATE 2
Rash has flared up again over last couple of days and is actually worse than the original entry rash. This is caused as immune system reacts again to antigens left by larvae on their entry. This is expected at this stage and shows worms have moulted and are now starting their adult phase. They should start attaching themselves to my ileum from tomorrow onwards (2 weeks since infection). It's at this point there is a chance I will get the 'worm flu' for a couple of weeks.
Don't know how much to read into this; but there was supposed to be high pollen count in London today and I have had none of my normal hay fever symptoms. More importantly, my Crohn's inflammation is at a 8 month low so I'm vitually symptomless, eating like a trojan and am back at the gym again. Not getting too excited as everything I have read says worms don't start working 'til wks 8-10. I might still be in the 'bounce' phase (if you don't know what this is, see earlier update http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showth...#post851907913).
