What happens if you eat only one or two meals a day?

And if your calories are less than 1200 for a female? My friend says that she is no longer hungry and is fine with one or two meals a day even if they add up to be 1000. Will your body's metabolism slow down??? She's been losing weight for several months doing it this way. I know it's not the best but I'm just curious if there is a bad side affect waiting for her down the road. I'm not going to lecture her because she is the type that does what she wants lol.

Some people love one meal a day.

    It works!

If you like it, go for it.
A diet isn't punishment. A diet is a way to reward your body with the wholesome, nutritious food that it needs. Your body composition is a direct reflection of what you put in your mouth.

I've heard people claiming it working for them. I'm a big advocate of eating 5 or 6 smaller meals a day. But, I'm constantly hungry, so it works for me!

its fine.. there is no real difference that i am aware of.. as long as at the end of the day you have consumed the same amount of calories and macros .. its all good.

the only meal i would consider important is pre workout.

edit.. here is a awesome post i just looked at. http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showth...hp?t=143099633 he did 1 a day.

From my understanding, 1200 is the level that's required to maintain the proper functioning of the organs and bodily processes. If she eats below that, especially for an extended amount of time, she puts herself at risk of losing her period and having her hair fall out in the short term. In the long term, she may become infertile and her heart/organs may fail.

The body's metabolism does slow down, so if and when she decides to stop losing weight, getting back up to maintenance will most likely mean gaining some weight back as her metabolism adjusts back to normal. (This is what I'm doing now and it sucks!)

Aside from the low amount of calories, eating 1/2 meal/s a day is fine provided she halves her daily intake needs and has them in these meals rather than eating the same amount in each meal as if she were eating 3-5 meals.
