Hello,
My first contest is in 18 days, and I'm planning on following the Layne Norton's Peak Week Guide for the last week of contest prep. Being the first time going through this there are many variable as I have not been able to have a practice Peak Week like suggested. So I'm curious how everyone else who has went through the Layne Norton Peak Week Guide has reacted to this?
Did you put on weight? How much?
Are you compensating for the higher carbs by lowering protein and fats or are you keeping them the same and hoping that the lower carbs later in the week will make up for it?
I know each person is different, but I'm just looking for some idea on what to expect!
Thanks!!!!!

Layne's prep plan really isn't based on trying to make a radical change the last week like some plans that call for massive carb loads and dehydration. Those plans could affect your body weight as much as 10 pounds during that week -- depending on your size. With Layne's plan your weight will probably be about the same.

Problem is I am trying to make bantam weight. Currently I'm 143.7lbs and need to be at 143.25 in 18 days. If I stay on pace with the weight I've been losing, assuming no changesto diet, then I'm expecting to come in around 142.5. But I'm nervous with the differences in scales that this might be cutting it to close to my goal weight class max weight.
Having not gone through a test "peak week", I was just unsure the normal effect this might have on weight. It seems on average its more about getting fuller not adding or cutting weight correct?

You should be fine for the weight class at this point. It should be a breeze. If you were a superheavyweight trying to make heavyweight you'd have some issues with water weight and carbing up to make things tricky. Probably not as a bantamweight.
Do you do refeeds or high carb days? If you do, how much do you gain when you weigh yourself the next day? That'll be a good indicator.

I do not do refeeds, or high carb days. I'm new to this and the peak week will be the first major change to my diet other than cutting calories as I got closer to the competition. I think that is why I'm so nervous, I don't know how my body will react and with being this close I'm afraid of throwing away all the hard work I've done till now on this last week. I'm afraid of being under weight 7 days out, going through peak week, and missing my class by .25lbs or something like that.
Granted, it would not be the end of the world if I don't make Bantamweight weight class. I would just prefer to be one of the heavier guys in my weight class than one of the lightest. This is my first contest, and my goal was to get as contest ready as possible and get myself on stage.
Currently my diet looks like this 7 days a week:
1850-1900 calories, 130g protein, 230g carbs, 47g fat
I lift 6 days a week (always first thing in the am), and do 4 cardio days a week (3 of them in the afternoon, 1 directly after my saturday morning workout).

Well, eat 300 grams of carbs tomorrow and see what you weigh that night and the following day. One day of higher carbs will not hurt you at all if you haven't done any refeeds. It'll probably do you good.
If you do happen to be a little over the limit on Friday night, just don't drink anything until weigh-ins. You'll make it easy.
Prepping for a show isn't ALL math and numbers. Variables in the body change all the time. Don't be afraid to experiment a bit here and there and take notes.

^^^Pretty much this
Im doing my peak weak now, first few days were low carb days around 80g carbs
Just hit 200g carbs yesterday, morning weight was the same as the previous day so i am going with 200g carbs again, feel a bit tighter as well
Will see how i look/feel/weigh tomorrow morning and ill base my carbs for that day on that!"Success is a journey, Not a destination"
