Things that annoy you at the gym
What are your pet peeves? Here are some that bug me:
- Walking in front of the mirror when I'm doing a set
-People not offloading their weights
- Cell phones and social hour just sitting on equipment
- Creepy naked old men who walk around naked in the locker room and seem to take a long time to get their cloths on.
- Guy who blow dries his pubes in the mirror for 5 minutes, I mean, WTF???
- Talking to me in the middle of a set.

No brain, no gain.
You can't out-train bad nutrition.

Using the squat rack to do leg raises.
Using the squat rack to do 20 pound curls
Tying up the benches while chatting or texting. WTF either lift or go the F*** home.
The hardest lift that you can ever do is lifting your Ass off the couch.

Good job hitting the major annoyances!
Let me add a few of my own:
1.The nudge who is at the gym every day for hours but spends the vast majority of his time shooting the bull and disrupting workouts of other members;
2. People who do ab work on the seated row bench;
3. People, usually younger guys, who unnecessarily slam the weights down on the flooring; and
4. Fat and out-of-shape members who do 20 or 30 sets of triceps presses.

I work out at home, but I still manage to irritate myself by not putting my weights away!

Lol. I was just picturing someone tripping over a dumbbell in their own home and saying "how the flock did that get there?!?" :-D

That is EXACTLY what goes on around my gym. LOL! I was doing squats the other day and spent about a minute rolling a dumbbell out of my way with my foot and watching roll back in my way. haha

I train at home, but was a gym member up until just two months ago.
As long as people obey gym rules and pratice basic courtesy, I've never had major issues with how they behave.

Eff you. Seriously. I am the parent of a small child AND much of my work is done on an emergency/on-call basis. It is simply imperitive that I am able to be reached at all times. If the ringer and me uttering a few sentences is so distracting to you, you either have ADD or just not focusing very much on your own training.
"Oh, anyone who brings their phone in the gym must not be serious about their training." Phhhtt. I think my results speak for themselves.

A new one from this weekend.
People using a machine incorrectly.
I watched a guy on the Assisted Pull-up machine, doing the exercise with the weigh stacked locked in at 300lbs. He was about 230lbs himself. I can only think that he was using it as a Shoulder Press?
And the 1/4 ROM /Bad form people. Stop bragging about squatting 4 plates, or benching 3, when you're only barely breaking perpendicular.

There was a guy at the gym this morning who was so far back from the cage that I had to walk in front of him. I hate doing that, but I probably would've tripped if I'd tried to go behind him. I don't what he was thinking standing back so far from the mirror, but whatever.
As I was passed in front of the mirror on the way back to my unracked weights after getting a drink of water and chatting for a few minutes with my powerlifting coach on my cell phone, I noticed his jock had sprung a leak, so even though it was the middle of his set, I figured I'd let him know his junk was hanging out. He just gave me this look like he was annoyed, so I put my earbuds back in and went back to squatting while he admired his wrist curls in the mirror.
I saw him again later in the locker room, but I tried to keep out of his way because he was obviously cranky...maybe had low blood sugar or something. I had to walk all the way around the locker room to get my clothes. Sometimes I'm self conscious about how long it takes me to get dressed, too. I mean with my arthritis as bad as it is and all. I shudder to think how bad off I'd be if I didn't lift.
Makes a guy want to stop blow drying his pubes in the mirror.

Peeves me off as well. They claim the right to use multiple machines to superset by placing a bottle of water or towel next to the machine they are not using. If everyone did that, there would be no machines left for anyone else. Fortunately, only few people do this in my gym.

1. I hate it when the gym staff lets the tootsie roll bowl get to low.
2. Aggravates the hell out of me when people interrupt me in the middle of an important phone call.
3. I pay my dues at the gym like everyone else. If I want to curl in the squat rack DEAL! Besides, there's two freaking smith machines right there. -------------------------->
4. People need to stop walking in front of me when I'm flexing in the mirror. How can I admire myself if you keep breaking my view?
5. When someone uses my sh*t in the middle of my giant set. I've clearly marked each machine w a puddle of sweat.
Some people have no manners.

1. People who do not wipe off a bench
2. Groups of 3 or 4 who train together but talk, text and rest more than they train....I try to get away as fast as I can and I train later in the evening to avoid this.
