I've been lifting for about 8 months now and have made very good progress. Recently my chest has been getting much bigger, however my outer chest is still lacking. So how do I target my outer chest more?
My chest workout:
Flat Bench Press. 4 sets
Incline Bench Press. 3 sets
Decline Bench Press. 3 sets
Dips. 3 sets
Flys on cable crossover machine. 3 sets

I agree it's probably not worth worrying about at this stage.
Bench press will hit all areas of your chest.
To answer the question though, dumbbell flyes are generally considered to hit the outer chest harder, although it probably just seems that way because it puts more stress on your chest at a different point in the range of motion.
