Should I lose weight before bodybuilding?

Wondering if I should lose some excess flab (currently 149lb, 15-16% bodyfat, 32'' waist) before I start bodybuilding, or if I should just go for it and build muscle then lower my BFP? All the stories I've read are of people who went from skinny to big, as opposed to slightly chubby to shredded. Which one do you think is easier, and are there any people on here who weren't sticks when they started out?

You need to be lifting while you cut down your weight or you will most likely lose muscle as well as fat, instead of just fat.

    I started as a 200lb fatty.

I would try to lose the fat first. If you started bulking at a lower BF you would be able to see your muscles fill out easier as to bulking at a high BF. If you were to bulk at an already high BF it would just look like your getting fatter. IMO cut down first then get on a clean bulk. =)

    I started as a 200lb fatty.
Did you cut first or immediately start bulking?

Start lifting and cut.You will lose both muscle and fat but the muscle lost will be smaller imo.Just get the BF lower than start clean bulk results wont be fast but eventualy u will get there.
