Wondering how to approach a cut, and how to work in my cardio.
I'm not currently counting calories, but I would guess I've been eating 500-750 surplus, since I have gained 35 pounds in 6 months. Last summer I was running 15-20 miles a week, and weighed about 155 @ 8% body fat. While bulking, I have done little to no cardio. I havn't measured recently but I think I'm around 12-13% @ 190 lbs.
At around 205 lbs I would like to cut. My goal is 185 @ 7%, so I'd assume I'll need to cut slowly to achieve that. In order to do that, the question is, should I start doing cardio now? I don't think it will burn much fat if I'm still eating a surplus of calories, but physically I would like to ease into the running. (I get shin splints if I increase volume too suddenly). At the rate I'm gaining weight, I should hit 205 in a couple of months. I'd like to increase mileage each month by no more than 3 miles per week.
So does anyone have any advice on how to do this?
