Thumbs up Jump Rope vs. Running (Cardio)

Im in pretty decent shape so I enjoy running, but do you think jump rope burns more calories than running? When I jump rope my heart rate is up way more than running.I jump for only 30 seconds then resting. Which one of the two do you prefer?

Thats actually pretty smart. Jump roping while running. I did that stuff in 3rd grade for that stupid Jump Rope around America for heart disease or whatever at the schools. I like jump roping more then running for actual results. Running is basically just people leaning halfway over and pushing forward with very little leg strength to keep moving. Thats what jogging/running looks like to me most of the time when people do it outside at least.

jump roping is more fun once you can start doing tricks. Running is the easiest way to do cardio though

If you jump rope for 30 seconds then rest, you're do anaerobics rather than aerobics. Aerobics burns more calories.

I used to prefer jump rope. Don't need to plan routes or go out in the public, just stay in my back yard. But it was causing a knee pain and my physio recommended i stop. Stick to running/cycling now.

work some double-unders into a met-con of some sort; three rounds:
    20 Thrusters/20 pushups/20 KB/DB swings/40 double-unders
    15 Thrusters/15 pushups/15KB/DB swings/30double-unders
    10 Thrusters/10 pushups/10 KB/DB swings/20 double-unders

with a double under meaning you swing the rope twice under your feet on each jump. Much more interesting than just jumping in place for a while, that ****'s boring.

I just got done jumping rope, gotta love that endorphin high. I've been staying away from running for the sake of preserving my knees, but I did go for a run a few days ago and I felt more spent than from jumping rope. maybe I'm just more conditioned for jumping rope at this point in time. I would like to start cycling though as that's supposed to be even lower impact on the knees and just as good cardio. jumping rope is badass though if you're good at it and can do all the tricks.

I've had 11 bouts, running is better for cardio. if you get a good response from skipping then go hard. Aim for 6-10 minutes or split into 3x3 minute rounds.
