Mostly for experimentation's sake I stopped deadlifting for almost 2 years. Didn't notice much of a difference as far as back development goes.

I'm starting up again tomorrow cause I miss the movement

I've stopped doing conventional deadlifts, but I do SLDL regularly to hit the hams. Either I'm not getting the same mind-muscle connection with conventional deads or they simply aren't as effective for hypertrophy.

No hate at all, I just don't like conventional deads. My PR on conventional deads was 3 plates.

i havent dead lifted for about four years. I do squat though.

in my 10+ years of lifting, i can say deads are overrated (agree with quoted post on skinny *******s who can pull heavy) and juicers are obvious.

    squat >> deadlift

It isn't. But most gym goers have no experience with such weight and therefore think its something unusually heavy. I workout at a lifestyles family fitness and people there look at me like some monster when im repping out 405.

why risk making your waist and hips wider? and even if it doesnt, why continuing doing an exercise which is useless

only reason people do it, is because is a tradition, many years ago, people only do it because the lift big mindset

they believe that the more u lift, the bigger you get

deadlift is an exercise where u can lift TONS of weight, this increase their egos, this is the only reason they do it

they also do it out of insecurity, they so scared of being ridiculed as sissy, as not being real lifter who perform the big 3

    lmao nothing but sheeps

u mad there are people who dont deadlift and look ten times better than u do ?
How is it useless? Is it not working muscles? You can't move a joint with out muscle movement, muscle movement plus resistance equals muscle growth thus it's not useless...

lol at people who don't deadlift at all.

Let me guess. Your favorite lift is bicep curls?
…we have not spent the last 65 million or so years finely honing our physiology to watch Oprah. Like it or not, we are the product of a very long process of adaptation to a harsh physical existence, and the past couple centuries of comparative ease and plenty are not enough time to change our genome. We humans are at our best when our existence mirrors, or at least simulates, the one we are still genetically adapted to live. And that is the purpose of exercise. - Mark Rippetoe

i like doing them, don't use heavy weight though (200lbs, just started incorporating them into workout)

if you ever got a Viking professional snowmobile stuck in powder, you would know why deadlifts shouldn't be neglected (srs, i'm not a weak guy, nor strong bb.com standards but can't pick the arse end of those machines up when they get clogged with snow, felt like a little kid stuck on his sled.)

I love deadlifts. Gets my heart rate going and gives me that rush that I chase when I'm lifting. I can also row a lot more after doing heavy deads because the weight feels lighter.

I think of 5 plates as going heavy. I'm trying to break 500 lbs this year. I've pulled 445 for 1 while cutting and fairly carb depleted.

Question for everyone that doesn't deadlift:

It's a warm and sunny summer day. You're on your off day from the gym and decide to go for a shirtless walk through a nearby nature trail to get some fresh air. You feel like a boss, looking more aesthetic than Tarzan, when you hear a distant crash and a faint scream. Curious, you decide to investigate the noise. The screams get louder and more desperate. You start sprinting. After about a mile of running, you see a fallen tree and a girl stuck under it. She's a solid 8/10 and is totally mirin your physique. You have to lift the tree off her. You try deadlifting, but aren't strong enough. You try to bench it but it's too heavy. You try squatting it, but it's too low. You're forced to chew through her legs and free her that way. Would you still be happy you never did deadlifts?

deadlifts are not overrated stfu. They are a great mass building compound exercise. My traps blew up when i did them.

jokes on you, you never never ever move a crash victim unless there is a imminent possibility of death and if the car is going to blow up i'm running

you technically only need to be as low as it takes to grip the bar, any lower once you've got a hand on it, you lose leverage
be a lot cooler if you did
