    Bodybuilders vs powerlifters?

    What do powerlifters do that keep them relatively small yet strong compared to the larger size of bodybuilders?

    1-7 reps is what alot of powerlifters will use. thing is u can go up to a 15 rep PR and guess what you've gotten stronger. It's mainly about diet a 160 lber that deadlifts 585 doesn't take in many cals but he takes in lots of protein.

    Remember seeing a 58 year old man that weighed 158 deadlifting 585 it was insane

    They don't eat on a surplus too often. You can get stronger whilst remaining the same size if you don't gain weight. That's what PLers that stay in certain weight classes do.

    My mistake. I never ate on a surplus and stayed the same size for a long time. just got stronger.

    Now every 2nd person comes to me and says "Oh you're too small to be pushing that weight".

    And I'm like... okay.jpeg....

    There was this guy with a stanford rowing hoody on at the gym last night, he was like 6'6" and thin as a rake, but he deadlifted 4 plates... it was pretty wicked.

    Typically powerlifters have lower volume workouts. Bodybuilder's utilize TUT (Time Under Tension) to promote muscle growth. Powerlifters are the opposite, and whilst they're not racing with the weight, they do perform controlled and explosively.





    I've always just considered myself an avid weightlifter, and have always trained for strength, speed, stamina, and athleticism; until recently, now I've been finding I gain fat free mass just as easily as strength. More than likely, I won't compete in either bodybuilding or powerlifting, but return to the sport of strongman in the LHW division (231lbs).
