Taking a week off from the gym

I probably haven't taken a week off from the gym in 1+ year. Lately I've noticed my shoulder has been in a little bit of pain when benching + I'm not making any gains. Starting today I decided to take a week off from the gym just to rest + recover then start back up next monday with a new routine. I already feel depressed knowing that I won't be hitting the gym after work and I feel like I'm going to lose everything lol. Anyone else ever do this?

Every 3-4 months, I always take a week or 2 off.
It allows your body to fully repair itself and when you get back to the gym. You'll have one of the best workouts ever
