Angry How to tell if I pulled a quad muscle? Did I tear it??

I worked my legs out on tuesday and my quads and calves were very sore the day after, but I still went to track practice , I am a sprinter. I did a couple 300 and 200 meter sprints. My quad got really tight and my legs started to be really burned out half way through the sprints. Now my middle quad muscle looks like part of it split in half. I see no brusing anywhere on the legs, I took 2 days off of track and have been icing and massaging my leg. My left calf muscle feels stiff but isnt bruised. so I am wondering if I just pulled my quad or tore the muscle? There is no bruising on my quad. what are symptoms of a torn quad? and is it safe now to resume track and field practice?

First off, tearing your quad and pulling it are the same thing. They are both forms of strains. Second, your range of motion for your quads should be painfully impaired if there is injury to it- if it is only impaired (no pain) then you're just tight and need to stretch. You also might be just cramping... make sure you have proper hydration, electrolytes, potassium, and calcium levels mainly.

If you actually tore it, you can test by attempting to do a leg extension against resistance (friend pushing down, isometric against a piece of furniture, anything to let you engage the muscle).

If you tore your quad you'd know.

    Probably just DOMS.
