How many calories do you burn an hour doing nothing?

Does anyone know how many calories your body burns an hour when you just sit around and do nothing?

That depends on many things and I don't know what to tell you. Lean body mass and metabolism, along with what you've eaten, and how long it has been since you last exercised all have an effect here.

If you mean just to keep your heart beating and brain functioning, there might be an answer.

Varries from person to person especially if you have a fast metabolism. If i remember correctly in 60-69 calories an hour not sure though. Look up calories burned during slep and that should give you a ball park idea

That depends on your age, height, weight, and lean mass. It varies for everybody. Google "Katch-McKardle" (sp?), that is a BMR formula based on lean body mass. It will give you your BMR for a 24 hr period.

If you do absolutely nothing it would be basically your BMR I guess.

Here is a calculator, then you would just divide the number by 24.

    http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/

Like the above poster said though there are alot of factors that would come into play.
