Hey Guys.
So I find myself on the run alot and dont have much time to sit and make food, so I was just wondering if anyone could recommend me a decent protein/meal replacement bar? I would just eat it as a quick meal. It says to try to avoid sugar cause it can cause an insulin spike, but there are some with a good bit of protein in them.
Thanks guys.

Meal Replacement Bar

Phil,
I am a big fan of Clif Builder bars. I would love to say I have tried every type of protein bar, but I tried a lot and stopped experimenting when I found these. They are a little high in calories and sugar (270 cal, 20g sugar) but if you are using them as a true meal replacement it shouldn't be an issue. As opposed to regular Clif bars, the "Builder" has 20g of protein which should be sufficient if you are getting protein in other ways throughout the day. The best part about these, I think, is that they actually taste good. In my experience, I get half way though a serious protein bar and want to puke because I feel like I'm chewing on sand. Not the case with these. The "Chocolate Mint" is by far my favorite, but the "Peanut Butter" flavor is definitely good as well. As a student and bartender, I am always on the run, and these have been a staple in my daily routine for a few months. Hope that helps.

^ read and learn about insulin
as for bars:
promax bars are delicous: 280cal 20g protein
Pure protein makes a bar w/ 280cal 32g protein
and quest bars are pretty good as well

Thanks for the help Tom, I actually was looking into that and they looked pretty good. Have you tried the lemon flavor? I might get those, but gonna keep shopping.
Interesting read about insulin, so I guess it doesnt really matter if its filled with sugar or not, I just quickly skimmed it so thats correct? I had a quest bar, wasnt to bad, I'll look at those promax ones.

Nope, not a huge sugar freak. I'm hoping these will be good for a quick meal spot or after a workout w/ a protein shake. So far I've lost 20lbs good diet with lifting heavy, gonna start some cardio (jump rope) soon.
I'll have to keep shopping around, but just seeing what everyone eats!
Thanks for the help so far guys!

They're delicious, use cheap ingredients that will cost you way less than buying a ton of bars, and are natural without all the artificial crap the store bought ones have. You say you're pressed for time, but in reality I'm sure you can take an 30 mins to make like 30 bars and freeze them.275->180->248... Next stop, 150

Real food is always better, but when in a pinch, You might want to check this out to make your own and have them shipped to your door no hassle.

I really like Supreme Protein bars. The caramel nut crunch tastes like a $100,000 candy bar and the peanut butter crunch is good too. My daughter likes the rocky road.
I'd also second the Clif Builder. My favorites are Chocolate Mint, Vanilla Almond and Peanut Butter.
I have tried almost every protein bar and these are definitely the best. Another one is 2:1 Bars. They have 2 grams of protein per 1 gram of carb. Not quite as tasty but still tolerable if you're looking to keep carbs low. They have one that looks like an ice cream sandwich that is pretty cool.
I also like World Wide Pure Protein peanut butter bars. 20 grams of protein. You can get a box of 6 at Walmart for $6. The S'mores flavor is good too.

Trust me go with the Cliff Builders. I've had at least 20 brands and these are the best all around. I like the chocolate mint it tastes exactly like. thin mint. I have Amazon Prime and I get 30 sent to me every month for a little under a buck each and eat one every morning for breakfast with a multi. Has everything you need as a meal.
