Sky's mission towards 40!
Hi everyone...I have been at this sight for about a month now. My friend windsrprk turned me on to this and I have enjoyed talking with you all and seeing all the great profiles of transformations!!
heres a bit of myslef...
Im 37, been married now for almost 20 years ,I have two beautiul children.. 2 girls 8 and 1!! Im a parrtime hairdresser, I actaully help those who have hairloss..male pattern baldness and those who go through chemotherapy due to cancer. I provide non surgical methods of hair replacement.. I know crazy job eh? Ive been with the same company now 20 years
I had started out back 5 years ago where I had seen myself in a picture and couldnt believe my eyes.(in my profile) I had gotten myslef to be a "skinny fat" girl. You know the type..long arms and legs with a huge midsection and untoned parts. I looked pathetic!!!!!!...and vowed to do something about it. I am 5'9 and I had gotten myself upwards to 160+pounds. I was always the skinny, knobbykneeded picked on girl throughout school so that fire and will fueled me into changing my tune!
With the help of friends and ABCbodybuilding I was able to go from a size 12 to a size 6 lean and strong..not nearly what I dream to be...but better than I ever thought possible and it made me have self confidence and pride...which is what its all about.
One year ago I had my second child. I vowed to maintain my dedication to the gym and my diet throughout...that failed after the second month where I fell into the throws of morning sickness ...which quite frankly is a joke..I was sick morning, noon and night and vomited 6 times a day for MONTHS..even taking 900$ month anti -nausea meds!(thankgoodness for health insurance!)so the desire to hit the weights or even eat healthly..was shot out the window! I managed to survive all that and gained only 22 lbs my entire pregnancy and still had a 9 lb healthy baby! ..must have been all that flaxoil!
4 months back, I went to the gym ready as ever to get this last little pudge off the gut and get back to seeing my muscles flex..only to be MAJORLY DISAPPOINTED of what 1.5 years of non training does. I had went from a 85lb benchbress 4-6 sets of 8 too barely pushing the BAR I was sick to my stomach! So back home I went and wallowed in my pity. I wanted my body back.
my goal....
To possibly enter into an amature fiqure competition by 40....or at least get my body to that point for my own self.
So please anyone... please feel free to critique me to pieces ..whether its my diet, my weight training, my weight amounts or my attitude! Im very hardheaded and can take abuse your throw my way
well within reason hehe
Thanks guys and here we go!....

Good luck to you, Sky! What a neat job. It's great you help others.
Your kiddies are beautiful and you look great! I did my first figure competitions (and last - ha,ha) right before I turned 44. It can be done and I'm looking forward to encouraging you along the way. If you took yourself from a size 12 to a size 6, I'm sure you'll have the dedication to reach your goals.

since starting out 4 months ago..I have doubled all numbers on all my bodyparts. so Im pretty much back up to where I was prior to getting pregant almost two years ago.
My goal to gain another 10 lbs of lean mass..I am very high metabolismed..and a true etcomorph..can waste away to nothing on a dime of I dont train and eat enough...thats always a challenge. I bring in about 2800 to maintain..so its really hard to eat MORE to get to 155lbs!!! EEKK
heres my legs today Id say my weakest part..they are very long UGH. so hard to get size on them eeerrrrr.
10 minute warmup on tread
Squats
(all to paralle)
set1 10 reps of 75lbs
set2 8 reps of 80lbs
set3 8 reps of 85lbs
set4 6 reps of 85lbs
last set (deep squat) 8 reps of 65lbs had a hard time getting back up!
45 degree leg press
4 sets of 8 @ 90lbs
SLDL's
2 sets of 10 @ 95lbs
2 sets of 8 @ 100lbs
sittng calves..
4 sets of 10 @ 70lbs
lots of crampin goin on during them!
so I feel really good ...felt the gumby legs instantly and had the slow walk down the stairs of the gym.... so DOMS WILL happen! just know it... YEA!!!
everyone have a good rest of the weekend!

Good morning all
thanks again for the nice welcomes and comments.
just flipped the oldest on the bus..and am totally enjoying the "mommie time" of the minutes before little monster(who just tunred one) awakens and starts her destruction! haha
my workouts schedule...
here lately its been
sunday... legs
monday ....back/bis
tuedsay...off
wednesday...chest/tris
thursday...abs/cardio
friday..off
saturday...shoulders
because Im trying to build muscle and I am naturally pretty lean I dont do much cardio. IF I was to eat crappy then I would need more cardio ..but I have about a 85-90% clean diet...on the weekends I may splurge and get a big ole hamburger or something tastey fattening..just for my sanity.
I notice when I did cardio back before baby I was hitting it about 3 days a week and not getting much muscle gains.
I steped it back and concentrated on more of a low volume..high weight/low reps deal and in 4 months was back to my prebaby numbers. I try and add at last a 2.5-5lb plate with each weekly workout. or add a few more reps in so Im always increasing myslef. I never do the same weight from week to week.
so far this has worked for me. I only do free weights and sometimes I will sit in a machine contraption..but I usually dont feel comfy with the range of motion.
if I do too much of a high volume workout I burn too many calories then I lose muscle mass...which it doesnt take much AT ALL for me to have that happen.
so!
I usually hit the gym at 8:30-9pm ..once I get kiddies tucked in thier beds. then
Tish time!
I am starting a new job today(on top of my exsisitng) where Im working some evening hours..they "claim" they close at 8pm ..so I will just leave from there and hit the gym....I will have to focus more on getting to bed sooner with a new job added..Im sure I will be more tired and it will happen naturaly..but Im usually a nightowl and up till 1am.
ok have a good day guys and Ill post my back/bis tonight
Tish

Hi!
Good to see you started a journal! I laughed at your comment on long legs, I always see these buff chicks in the mags that are like 5' tall...ugh...I guess the grass is always greener! But I bet they have an easier time finding pants! I have a love/hate thing with cardio. If I do too much, I lose muscle gains. If I don't do any, I lose my appetite and can't get in the food/protein I need! I'm looking forward to reading your progress!

Nice workout! Congrats on the 40 pounder!
I also recently had a conversation (in my own head, I answered for the clerk ) about the ma'm name-calling. And I decided that while it is correct for someone obviously younger than us to use the "ma'm", that all would benefit from use of the "miss". It's just more flattering, and happier customers spend more money! So since I was using my "inside voice", I also told the little twerp that he shouldn't mumble

The chest...the tris...
Goodworkout tonight...threw myslef at some heavy weight...Ive never started heavy then went light..so I thought Id tackle it.
I have to be careful though cause lastweek I was diagnoised with COSTO CHRONDRITIS scarey eh? LOL...inflamation of the cartliage between the ribs and sterum. its caused by an Injury...or a cold/virus or just because! they say slender women in the 40's are the most prone...IM NOT 40 YET DAMNIT!
hehe
so advil..heating pad and call me in the morning is basically what I have to deal with ...and its something I have to contend with the rest of my life apparently ...it usually goes away but can flare at any time..GREAT!...so doc said watch the upper body exercise...well YA RIGHT...try saying that to someone wanting to gain muscle hehe
SO all that aside I didint listen to her and did my heavy workout.Because Im a stubborn Taurus! ..wheres my heating pad???
tread 10 minutes warmup
barbell bench
20 reps of the bar warmup
4 sets of 6 @ 85lbs
last set 12 of 65lbs..well ......till it burned
incline dumbells
4 sets of 8 @ 30lbsers
incline flys
3 sets of 8 @ 25lbs
closegrip bench
3 sets of 8 of the bar
my tris were pretty thrashed at this point...Im sure I worked them enough by this point!
hope everyone had a WONDERFUL Valentines today....
ok off to nighty!
tomorrow....cardio/abs

Nice looking workout & avatar! No insult I hope, but at first I'd read that ailment as 'Costco Chrondritis' ie too much shopping for very heavy things at a big box store Hey, I'm old & don't have my glasses on!
Keep up the close grip benches; they'll help your tris!
