Will training your obliques hurt your v-taper? (srs)

It's understandable if you laugh at this question at first, but pls take me seriously.

Wouldn't training your obliques broaden your waistline and therefore diminish the overall appearance of your v-taper?

Therefore If you train your core wouldn't it be wise to not do any sideways movements?

    Please enlighten me.

true if you want to look like a brick

i'd recommend not to do a lot of oblique work, especially not weighted.
some people even avoid heavy squats and deadlifts because they also work your core and oblique muscles.

squats and deadlifts alone are definitely enough to build average obliques though. no need to do any more isolations

I never train oblique makes you look like a block.

I expecially tell females not to do it, they probably just saw some guy doing side bends and are doing them too.

Making your obliques bigger by doing side bends with weights will reduce your v taper, yes. Train your obliques and your abs for functionality and not for size. The only direct oblique work I do is side planks, which along with regular planks and dragon flags forms my 'abs routine'. The rest of the training my abs and core get is through squatting and deadlifting.

    Squat - 155kg (341 lbs)

It shows well in your avi. I will use heavy weight every other day, but switch it up with body weight the next day. I usually work my abdominals 5-6 times a week.
I strive to be like myself because I know that I can always improve. If I sculpt my goals towards another persons, I will eventually reach it. No matter how far I advance, I will strive to be better than the previous day.

Technically yeah it'll reduce v-taper. Just build huge lats and delts to compensate, and you'll have a v-taper with impressive obliques.

How does one train the core but not the obliques? Just no sideways movements?
Will the obliques still get trained when I do straight Leg raises and crunches?
What do you think of abandoning ab-exercises as a whole after a certain point?
Would deadlifts and squats be enough?

no need to train obliques I say... if you just do regular ab training at all then your obliques will be ok.

not only that, but your obliques will NEVER look good unless your at low bodyfat. and at that point if you are low bodyfat and you have big obliques well then what's the point? you don't need this muscle group built up, you just need it ripped up.

Far more about genetics than training.

Anyone that doesn't do squats/deadlifts because they don't want to look blocky is a raging phaggot.

I only train abs directly once Or twice a month and don't do anything really for obliques. I feel like heavy squats and deads do enough. I developed my core a lot playing sports in high school do I just maintain it now. I'm just trying to get shredded to show it off now.

this. it makes you look more powerful. they aren't a big muscle that will get large easily anyway. and for wide hips brahs, it can actually enhance the v-taper.

oblique workouts dont make you get a blocky physique, it might just be your body style but to make them look natural do more deadlifts to make yourself look even more aesthetic.. youll get the cobra looking V taper back with more deadlifting

obliques will never look good with higher bodyfats, you only look good if you have low bf %

^^ workout your rhomboids more and your body will have a nice V taper
