By strength routine do you mean training in a low (3-5) rep range?
I've always trained for hypertrophy since the beginning and for most people, including myself, thats the 6-12 rep range.

during high school i did heaps of curls and bicep got heaps imbalanced later and heaps of stretch marks. i thought bicep curl does the whole bicep. didnt know it was a two/three part muscle.

Started on Jay Cutler routine I found online, because I wanted to be like him. Did similar 5 day splits for ~1.5 years, then ~6 months powerlifting, which leads to now. See avi.
EDIT: Just looked at avi. 19lbs leaner now. :s9.54 second Rubik's Cube single solve. ~15 second average. Reppin' back any Cube brahs.

I was super fat prior to discovering BB but just went ahead on a cut and the 4-5 day split programs that the Scivation guys made. Worked in a sense that I lost weight but I could barely bench 95lbs. Several years later I'm now just chubby and slightly built. I'm on starting strength and I've been plateauing at a 1 plate bench now. Meh, atleast my deadlift is at 275lbs..Greatness from small beginnings.
