In Peak Week (again!)
Hey Gang
I promise, I will carve out some time in the next few days to provide an update / cliffs from my last show! Here is a summary of life since stepping offstage:
Work:
- work is absolute chaos but I kinda love what I do so that is cool
- Have to travel on business tomorrow - that sucks, don't like that part
Kids/Hubs
- kids' school is very busy (what, do teachers leave all the assignments for the last month?)
- son is trying out for rep football - and is playing 5 days a week. I don't know who is more nervous, me or him - I seem to have transferred my nerves directly from my show efforts to being his cheering squad Cuts begin this weekend - we'll either be going out for celebratory ice cream or therapeutic ice cream one of these days.....either way, I am looking forward to trying out Marble Slab Creamery and love that he is showing so much enthusiasm for a sport
- Hubs and I have enjoyed some very nice dinners since I came back - and I have been trying some new recipes, which is always fun
Workouts
- Have kept up cardio since coming back from the show
- Returned to the gym for my first workout on Thursday of last week (that would mean, with the taper for the show, one full week off) and have lifted every day since (taking today off) - SO NICE TO LOVE LIFTING AGAIN and not just see it as another chore that has to get done. Not following a specific program - will likely craft one this weekend (for several years, I haven't followed anyone else's program, just crafted my own with what I consider to be good results)
Diet
- I have resurrected the diet from about 3 weeks ago and built in some flexibility for dinners so that I can enjoy most of what the fam is eating
- we have eaten out more than usual - but I think that was b/c we were so limited since January as to where I could go with them and eat
- Goal was to slowly raise weight back up to 135 - I am at 132 right now (arguably, I popped up a good 3-5 pounds within a day of the show due to water) so am pleased with that
Other
- heading to VEGAS at 8:35am next Wednesday (one week from tomorrow) - with hubs and one of our sets of friends - so stoked - have bought some fabulous outfits for the trip (including 4 bikinis - who can pass up 15 dollar bikinis at Target???)
- won't start a structured workout program until we return - just keeping it kinda in maintenance mode until then
I'll write soon again
Have a super day,
CC

In Peak Week (again!)
Hey There!
Okay - a few days later than I had hoped but here is an update on how my life has been going since the show:
- workouts are going very well - pulling together components of both my workouts and my coach's (kept all 20+ weeks of workouts for reference). The only complaint I have is that my right shoulder (which had been 'tweaky' during the last few weeks of prep) is quite agitated now. It has got to be something with the front delt - anything that specific hits that part of the should makes it mad / makes it feel weak.
- diet is okay - I am following prep diet (from a few weeks out from show) about 80% of the time, enjoying myself the other 20%. Vegas didn't help though and I must admit I ate more than I should have there - but that is what vacations are for, right?
- weight is between 138 and 140, so a bit heavier than I was hoping to maintain at but I am okay with that given how much I enjoyed myself in LV. I am going to dial in the diet a bit more starting tomorrow because I am actually contemplating doing another show - not 100% sold on it but don't want to rule it out either.
The show I'd target will be October 19th meaning that if I only want to diet down for 12 weeks this time (23 weeks was way too long), I'd need to start in/around July 27th. If I only want to diet down for 12 weeks, I can't enter those 12 weeks with too much extra 'fluff'.
I have reached out to my coach and asked if I can just purchase the nutrition piece w/out hiring her as my trainer (I value her input and support and the team atmosphere but the w/outs weren't rocket science and I can build just as good ones on my own - I didn't tell her that, I just said I wanted to approach this a bit more economically!)) She said she thinks that is fine (given that she knows me) but I do need to write her hubs (the nutritionist) just to be certain.
Loving cardio right now - went for a great 5km run yesterday - amazing how in a year of reduced/minimal mileage I forgot how much I truly love running. I felt like a little kid and came home with a goofy grin on my face
Other than that, work is more than crazy! I could work 15 hours a day and still never catch up. Kinda frustrating but what are you gonna do, right?
Kids are good and hubs is awesome We (hubs and I) had such a wonderful time in Vegas - love these opportunities to re=connect - so important. Looking now to book a fam vacation for next year - any thoughts on proven, kid and adult friendly places? Looking for inputs!
TTYL,
CC

Hey CC,
Was thinking of you when we were watching the preseason Riders games, wahoooo football is back. I would think just regular life will trim a few of yourVegas pounds (which were well deserved) and that you could easily drop the weight for another comp.
What made you change your mind? I think you can rock it again especially with more confidence from experience

Nice to see you are still going strong! Another show huh? Do you really think you will need to start 12 weeks out. How long did it take you last tie to get to ideal weight? I remember it was early and I kept thinking OMG she has to maintain it for how long?
Glad you got to run and it made you happy. Those are the best!

Winning!
Do not know what you are into as a family...but most of the National Parks are amazing. We did week in FL for Disney World, Kennedy Space Center, and beach time when our children were 18, 12 and 7. They still talk about it!
We just toured DC for a week this spring with our 17 YO. Life changing for all of us as we had not been to DC.
