Post What muscles does the standing military press work out?

Is it just the chest and shoulders? Or does it work out the core as well? I want to say the biceps too, but they never feel any different after I complete the exercise.

    Officially, something like this: http://www.exrx.net/WeightExercises/...taryPress.html

Unofficially, there are quite a few exercises that can hit what most people think of as "the core", because of tension, breathing patterns and so on. And even disregarding that, dem dere Serratus stuff are probably in the vicinity of most poeple's defintion. So...

There shouldn't be much chest involved unless you are leaning back

Thanks for the response guys. Michael, that link was useful. @ Zoran, yes, I've gained 5 pounds in the last 2 weeks since I've started Rippetoe's program.

Tris are also involved in the lift. I feel standing military press is a good core exercise, I class it with the likes of squat, deadlift, bench etc
