Converted my mom, best friend and a co-worker to try IF. My mom and co-worker are on week 3 and loving it. My buddy is finishing week 1 and so far he's liking it.
He was the most skeptical out of everyone... I love this ish.

Just eat healthy and estimate, it shouldnt be completely impossible if youve counted cals before. I'd suggest overeating on lifting days and being a little conservative on your rest days. It should kinda work out. Not til you move off campus and abandon the dining hall will you be completely able to track what you eat.

Mini-fridge in your dorm room. Go shopping off campus at the local grocery store. You would extremely surprised at how little food will cost you each week if you stick to the basics. Whole milk, whole bread, peanut butter, bananas, whey protein, stuff like that. A 10-15 hour a week job would more than be able to sustain something like that. You'd probably even have left over money to get drunk with. Or hell, just see if your parents will give you like 25 bucks a week to eat on.

Not that long. Been on this pseudo-fast for about a week, but I'm open to manning up and cutting out the morning stuff. Wouldn't coffee be incorrect for a fast since it has so many calories? Also, aren't these artificial sweetners really bad for your health in the long-run?
Also, to the other guy who quoted me, what does ec stand for? Somehow I don't think you mean extra-curriculars...

black coffee + the aforementioned sweeteners = calories. a splash of milk, as per martin berkhan, wouldn't negate the effects of the fast.
stevia/truvia aren't artificial...they're plant based. as far as aspartame goes: in theory, it IS carcinogenic, but you'd need lbs upon lbs of daily, long-term ingestion for it to have negative effects.

Quick question. I know its probably been answered already but I'm not going through 149 pages of ****.
I'm considering starting this soon but I want to know the ins and outs of it, not just a basic outline. Is there a book or a really in depth article that I can read other than this one I just googled. leangains.c o m?
Thanks

Let me know what you think you're misinformed on and I'll try to elaborate on the topics. I'm going to search for all of the studies I've read so you guys can take a look at them.
This guy did some before/after blood tests. Let me know what kind of tests you're looking for and I'll try to provide information.

Man I just can't do this fasted workout. I've only done 2 workouts so far fasted and I just feel super weak. Lowered reps and weights on everything. Stick it out, eat more or take bcaa's prior to workout? I have only tried working out at the end of my window so I can eat directly after. Am I doing it wrong or just impatient?

So im guessing you have a small meal before you workout? The post workout meal would be your last one right?
Sorry about the questions, some of this stuff seems wrong due to the amount of broscience alot of us have been following for all these years lol.
So how about this...
Wake up at 11am
Break fast at 12pm by having a small -medium sized meal
3-4pm have another meal
Train at 7pm
Post workout meal (largest) at around 8pm and then repeat
Amidoingitright?

Some great info for IF beginners and veterans.
Cliffs:
-Dr set on finding link between nutrition and brain function, finds body composition and fasting correlation.
-Claims there aren't enough human studies on IF
-Uses own wife as study subject (turns her sexy lol)
-Reduces blood pressure, blood lipids, inflammation
-Increases metabolism, HGH, fat burning
-Improved neurogenesis (brain generating connection to neurons)
-Improved appetite, blood sugar
-Covers various IF plans
-Greatest hormonal benefits are seen 18-36 hours in the fast
-Train fasted in order to take advantage of HGH surge
-Gradually ease into the fasting process so you don't freak your brain/body out (shout out to the cry babies)
-Lower carb windows are generally better for the long run
-Take Fiber 3-5 grams 2x daily (metemucil & citrucel) to promote fullness (if cutting)
-Healthy fats and BCAA's optimize health benefits of IF
