Enjoying my time in the military (not srs). Tons of physical activity here. I've never ran so much in my life, but it's all good, I'm starting to like it.
Managed to do a small bench press PR here a few weeks ago - 130kg with my standard narrow grip. I'm avoiding heavy lower body work in the gym because that would interfere with my running performance which is pretty good right now for a strength gym rat (1.86 miles/3 km in 12 minutes).
So in conclusion I'm actually improving here!

Holy **** I haven't posted in a while.
Anyway, the bench press PR mentioned above - scratch that because the barbell I benched wasn't a standard 20kg one, it was actually lighter (atleast 5kg I think, not sure).
Not sure what to do after the military, it's either gonna be weightlifting or just casual lifting.

The military wasn't my thing, but it changed my perspective on training though.
Right now I'm planning on improving my 5k run time by running 20k a week and 5k each workout. Besides running I do some bodyweight exercises. For some reason I'm not so drawn into lifting anymore. I'd like to improve my cardio first and maybe then pick up from somewhere I left off with lifting, bench press seems the most convenient. All this is because I plan on taking up boxing in the end of summer and because my opinion on "optimal body" has changed.

Damn !
Boxing is pretty cool.
Did the military change your perspective about training regimen too ? Like more volume, more work, less recovery or anthing else ?☆ ☆ QUEBEC CREW ☆ ☆

I've rank 5k every workout this week, here are some statistics
14.04 24:33
16.04 23:51
17.04 24:02
19.04 25:42 (ran with my brother and we talked during the run, hence the bad time)
My goal is to run it under 20 minutes. Laps are 250m so I need to run every lap under 1 minute. Besides running I'll do bodyweight exercises, I'm completely quitting weights (except for weighted pullups etc)
I'm not sure if I'll have anything worthy to post from here on.

It makes me sad
You shouldnt stop weightlifting completely. Chances are, you'll get bored of this kind of training regimen and you will look back and say "I shouldnt have stop".
I have a friend who run, cycle and swim 3x a week and lift 3x a week. I dont know how he manage to do all this in his week...but anyway. He's in great shape, drastically improve his cardiovascular performance (he's a former powerlifter) while maintaining his strength and explosiveness. Before going all-in with endurance training, you should at least try a mix of everything for a while.
Or go all-in with boxing. That's a great sport hehe☆ ☆ QUEBEC CREW ☆ ☆

Next saturday I will be going to my first boxing training.
Also, I'm not going all-in with endurance training, 5k is barely all-in in my opinion, it's just a little conditioning I'll need.
Maybe some day I'll return to lifting (be it weightlifting, powerlifting w/e) with a much better base to build on than ever.

Well enough of running for me, under 20:00 time is a crazy goal for me, it would take thousands of kilometres.
Also, I ended up with shin splints in my right leg, I'm very prone to shin splints, but I ran like 4 workouts ignoring it, it's not that bad and not really that important but it can get a lot worse (experience lol).
One thing I noticed, especially yesterday, is that my recovery after the run is a lot faster. The first week when I ran 5k then after the run I'd lie down to catch my breath for 10+ minutes but yesterday I just sat down for a bit and continued doing my stuff like 5k was a warmup, so that's good. During boxing and after it (in the summer) I think I'll incorporate all sorts of stuff for conditioning, weightlifting etc.

Picked up boxing and doing it for this whole month, no trainings in the summer, but that's actually sort of great. I plan on doing a lot of stuff in the summer training-wise, first thing that comes to mind is 5 plate deadlift, why? Because I've already benched 3 plates and squatted 4 plates, but I'm not really satisfied with the 3 plate bench because it was done with a wide grip (which I can no longer use due to it being extremely uncomfortable) and I'd rather redo it with my regular grip (which is a narrow grip for the average lifter), but I'll see how that goes. I plan on keeping my weight = or < 75kg. Right now I'm pretty stable at 75kg. I consume minimal amount of sugar (I've replaced all soft drinks with sparkling water, meaning less calories and carbs consumed in general) and try to get more fiber, fats and protein. Also replacing running with skipping rope in terms of cardio, which imo is more beneficial, easier and cooler.

Semi-lifting currently. I'm thinking of using the summer to prepare for a contest called fitness five (it's origin is sweden and it's known only in the baltic countries), the contest consists of 5 exercises: bodyweight bench press for reps, 150% bodyweight squat for reps, 50% bodyweight ez barbell strict curls and then pullups and dips with no weight. I think I got good potential for all of those things.
Yesterday I did a little bench press, which I haven't done in months. 3x10x75kg (feet on bench) was pretty hard but I managed. Long way to go.

Gonna start oly lifting again, but I'll write my workouts in another thread (http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showth...hp?t=150926203), as this subforum is bodybuilding/powerlifting. Also I'll no longer be a teen in 2 months. Feels weird I created this workout log when I was 15 and I'll be 20 soon. So this is also a goodbye to this subforum!
If any new lifters to this subforum stumble on this, please feel free to skim this thread from beginning to end to see how consistency pays off!
