    $6/gallon gas (srs)

adding that people regularly complain about gas prices in that area.

The Sunshine State is opening up its wallet, paying an average of $3.67 a gallon of unleaded gas, 12 cents more than the national average. And it’s only expected to go up.

“It doesn’t look like we will have relief at the pump anytime soon,” Brady told CBS Tampa. “I do think we will see prices surpass $4 a gallon. I think we will see that closer to spring time.”

One reason for the high prices is the conflict with Iran over the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has threatened to disrupt oil shipments through the waterway due to the European Union sanctions leveled against the country over its nuclear program, causing the price of crude to skyrocket. Trading on a barrel of crude today is a little over $106.

Another reason for the high gas prices: positive economic news. The drop in the unemployment rate and improved housing market numbers have caused gas and oil prices to rise.

“I know it frustrates quite a few consumers why positive news will lead to higher prices,” Brady told CBS Tampa. “It really just comes down to speculation.”

A third culprit behind the gas price boom is Greece. The EU’s bailout for the indebted country only adds to the global fuel demand.

And because of these reasons, Brady believes that Florida and the rest of the U.S. could see historic gas prices.

“I think this year we will see much higher highs.”

Believe it or not, those prices aren’t the highest in the nation. According to GasBuddy.com, motorists in Alaska are paying a whopping $6.34 for a gallon of regular at some gas stations. The cheapest gas can be found in Wyoming at $2.75 a gallon.

Confused on pic and their math skillz. But yeah, people being unemployed for soooo long that they run out of benefits and give up on looking for work driving for prices, nott a good situation.

And, considering what we do to our planet at the moment, it's still too cheap.
    (no al gore)

Btw, we pay 1.4€ per liter over here (cheapest option).
    1 gallon = 3.79 liters
    1 € = 1.33 USD

Do the math. But then again, we don't insist on driving trucks and SUVs in the city, lol.

At costco with their amex I pay like 3.15 a gallon right now, I think it ends up being around $175 / month for gas. If it goes to $6 i'll probably grab a motorcycle (or even a moped since I take side roads to work) for the summer spike.

Well, what can I say. You are happy people in USA with even such prices!

In Europe. And to be more exact Lithuania, where I live the price for a gallon is: $7.8...

And this price has changed here in 5 years from $6.5 to $7.8.
We hade your prices when nobody was thinking even about the crisis...

Crazy gas prices are in the area around the Orlando theme parks (specifically the Disney ones). Idiots for the newspaper decided to run a picture from gas 4 hours south (Miami).

Really the part that angers me is this:

Another reason for the high gas prices: positive economic news. The drop in the unemployment rate and improved housing market numbers have caused gas and oil prices to rise.

Oh wow, since people are working we can rape them more now....

Personally I feel that a majority of the economic problems in America are due to the oil companies greed. Increased fuel costs hurt everyone, not just those that drive SUVs and trucks. If you are a farmer that uses a tractor, if you eat groceries from a store, if you buy anything that has to be shipped from anywhere, etc., all is price affected by fuel costs. The cost to simply survive increases, while most jobs do not increase pay to match the cost of living.

Currently I drive a car that gets 35 MPG and it still costs me $60/week in fuel to just get to work and do small amounts of work related driving.
    There is no spoon.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: For I am the baddest man in the valley.

We all only have today and right now, but without death being pressed upon us we hide behind our false pretense of immortality. - Lvisaa

Oil companies make around a penny per gallon of gas. Their profit is in volume not margin. I would bet that a UK vehicle does not average 15,000 miles a year.

Girlfriend and I are purchasing a car this summer and it seems like going the hybrid route will be a good idea. Unfortunately, almost all affordable hybrid cars are butt ugly.
“Go back?" he thought. "No good at all! Go sideways? Impossible! Go forward? Only thing to do! On we go!" So up he got, and trotted along with his little sword held in front of him and one hand feeling the wall, and his heart all of a patter and a pitter.”

In the picutre that person paid $3.74 a gallon, but that is close to six bucks right?
I strive to be like myself because I know that I can always improve. If I sculpt my goals towards another persons, I will eventually reach it. No matter how far I advance, I will strive to be better than the previous day.

Just because there is a drop in unemployment doesn't mean more people are working. It could also mean that a bunch of people have given up looking for work, so the government loses track of them and they are no longer counted in their statistics.

Holy god I hope that's not a serious comment. Otherwise strong lack of awareness on the complexities of a global economy and lag times in political moves.

Gas is 4.43 a gallon right now. Its on the low side, wait till summer it will bump to 5.50 at least. Sucks as I have a 45 mile+ commute to work everyday.

    qft.

$6/gallon is pretty redic. It's still somewhere around 3.20 over here. Thankfully my car gets great gas mileage and I walk to most of the places I want to go.

. It's more of a play on the fact that regardless of the issue, everyone ALWAYS blames the pres. Be it Bush, Obama, etc etc
