Stopped reading at Gimme a Burger.
You posted a tonne of chit nu metal bands... your point is invalid.
That's true. But Death WAS around in the early 80's.
Full Length album
1988 = 80's
Death = 80's carried into the 90's
It's like saying Over Kill is from the 90's because they released like 3 x more through the 90's and 2000's... but their best material was from the 80's and that's a fact jack.
aaaannnyway
You guy can clearly see I'm elitist, and I hate nu metal/Death metal/Black Metal and will be posting THRASH/POWER/HEAVY METAL in here. We can agree to disagree about how bad the 90's sucked.Last edited by AirForceV; 04-21-2012 at 11:06 PM.

To be entirely honest, early Dimmu Borgir was pretty damn good. Their first two LPs, the few EPs and the demos they put out before ETD were more than listenable. I read that Cacophonous, who released Stormblast, had sampler tracks from ETD and they were much slower and in Norwegian too, more so like Stormblast's style. However, upon signing to Nuclear Blast they sped that shyte up and, arguably, the band became more accessible. ETD is still good, I enjoy the album, though I can imagine I would have adored it given what Cacophonous was sent.
Dimmu after ETD doesn't really appeal to me. The overly polished black metal sound isn't my favourite, especially in regards to symphonic black metal. Pulling a good example of how to produce a good symphonic black metal album would be with Alghazanth's latest. Brilliant balance of production without too much reliance on synth to basically drive everything forward.
Also, thanks Ravenstorm and Skullcrusher for the best wishes with my kidney disorder. Had it since I was 10 years old. Was two months away from death and was in Great Ormond Street Hospital for 4 weeks with them basically trying to save my damn life. What I have is a rare condition called MPGN, only a few hundred cases in the UK overall. As long as I can lift and listen to metal I don't really care though, I enjoy my life regardless of whether I am healthy or not in regards to medical conditions. I won't let it impact how I conduct myself at the gym or in life as a whole. I live how I want to live.
EDIT: Also posting Denial of God's new sample tracks. Love this band. Their vocalist sent me the full Apollyon discography on a cassette tape last year too (FMP released an Apollyon EP in 1997 - great EP).

Fuuuuuck dude.
And I really like the Stormblast remake. One of the first metal CDs I bought lol. Sound is too polished but it has a nice atmosphere.
AirForceV:
I hate thrash elitists but it's good to have someone posting thrash/heavy/power here. Those genres don't get enough love in this thread/on this forum.
I assume you're into speed metal. Can you give me a list of your favorite speed albums? It's so hard finding good speed metal.░▄▄▄░░▄░░▄░▄░░▄░░▄░░░░▄▄░▄▄░░░▄▄▄░░░▄▄▄

Just listened to Monolith of Inhumanity all the way through...I think it may be my new favorite album for 2012. It is probably one of the most varied albums I have ever heard. Every song has a "sticking point", a completely unique section that just draws you into the song. One of my greatest pet peeves with metal is that a lot of the songs on albums sound too similar. Not the case with this album. Every song is completely unique. The vocals are ridiculous, and the guitar and drum work is top notch. This album is so good.
And for the record, I did actually pre-order the CD, I just couldn't stand waiting to listen to it, as I am at school and I had the album shipped back home

Speed metal is like power metal on Cell Tech if anything. Judas Priest - Painkiller and Riot - Thundersteel are prime examples of it. Striker is a modern example.

Not exactly metal, but..
Found this band on a metal blog site, checked them out and I dig their sound. Definitely unique band.
Sound is kind of jazzy/swingish..old school sound for sure.
Comment on video sums it up:
Bangs Head
Snaps Fingers
Taps Foot

Thoughts?
