I don't know why this is such a radical concept to suggest that the longer someone trains, and if they use heavier weight, their muscularity is more dense. I am not necessarily saying that how heavy you train makes it more dense WHILE you are dieting. It is obviously a long term thing. Yes, conditioning for a show is a matter of proper diet and prep. However, when you look at someone like Johnny Jackson or Branch, I do think they have a more dense appearance. There is no need to go off on me; I am allowed to have an opinion.

First of all, why do you need to be rude? I am not allowed to even have an opinion? I hardly have ever seen any videos of Johnny Jackson squat, so I can't comment. Yes, his legs are underdeveloped. However, I have seen a lot of videos of him deadlifting impressive numbers, and look at his traps and back. This is why I rarely come on these forums or get involved anyway. The level of maturity on here is so low it's pathetic. I don't know how Layne deals with it.

If you are to do a google or youtube search of Johnny Jackson squats, virtually nothing comes up. Plenty of deadlift videos come up. I have not seen many videos of him squatting, so I can't comment, so for people to look at his quads and assume squatting doesn't work is ridiculous because he doesn't even seem to squat that much. The same applies for Stan Efferding. Yes, he squats huge numbers in competition, using a super wide powerlifting stance and in all fairness a lot of back. However, at least he does squat. Nevertheless, I have yet to find an exercise that stimulates the quads as much as LOW squats, especially if you do not lock out at the top (like Ronnie used to do). I'm not allowed to have an opinion, though, Layne, and neither can you. Having a PhD and being a pro doesn't mean anything. All that matters is broscience, duh.

good question, I can say for a fact that the webcast makes people look MORE conditioned than they really are. They had the webcast up on the big screens in the auditorium. So in person I actually thought wolf should have been lower based on his sub par conditioning compared to the rest of the top 4. I would have had him 3rd. So yea, it is often somewhat different in person

Honestly Branch has been very impressive. Looks crazy grainy, even moreso in person. But honestly the biggest wtf moment was in golds gym the thursday before the olympia in 2007. Dennis Wolf was a relative unknown at the time and he was in there working out in a tank top and Derek Charlebois and me looked at each other like 'dude... WTF is that????' LOL. I believe he got like 4th or 5th that night and created a ton of buzz.
