    Working out Barefoot

My handler told me i needed to squat and dead lift barefoot. He said it makes the lifts easier, and i agree to a certain extent. I've noticed my toes hurt alot more now. What do you guys think about lifting barefoot?

You can't compete barefoot so I wouldn't get used to training that way.

I only lift barefoot, mostly because i'm poor. it does help on dls from what i've heard since most prefer flat shoes for the lift

I started out pulling & squatting barefoot, felt great. I lift in chucks now which also feel great. Anything hard/flat.

Not a powerlifter. But I did have a ****ed up problem with hitching when I used to deadlift with shoes. I switched to barefoot deadlifting after I used the trap bar for a while.and havent really had that problem at all.

I think its the angle the shoe puts you in

I find my heels only lift in the squat when I'm wearing shoes , thats about the only drawback I find with shoes for me, not sure about others, For the deadlift , the thinner the shoe , the less rom ( which is better)

You are wearing the wrong kind of shoes then. chucks, vans, wrestling shoe, dl slippers, form fitting like vibrams, etc regular tennis/running/cushioned shoe should not be used at all for lifting any kind of heavy weights.

If I'm reading this right your heals lift off the ground when you squat? Your technique and mobility needs work. Its not the shoe.
