Great pictures. What strikes me is that the top 5 all look fantasic. You really have to look closely to find weaknesses and it takes time to compare each of them to decide who is better.
Nasser looks amazing. I even think his back is great.
Put any of those top 5 on stage today and they probably win.
Sad how in today's Mr Olympia, it is easy to pick out weaknesses. Phil was great, but from Jay on down, everyone had some bad flaws that just stood out.
what about the lower body conditioning? not to mention size
^^^this. BDB has an entire lower body to account for.
honestly, after looking at these...i'm wondering how flex managed second. people talk about "robberies" all of the time, but THIS is never talked about.
i realize you have to be "at the show" to really know, but as i see it here...flex should have placed behind nasser and levrone AT THE VERY LEAST. just my opinion though.

6th is the NEW 1st!
Ronnie's legs, glutes, lower back and overall thickness ****s on flex. Flex has great separation and detail in his upper back. That's not even close to winning the pose.

Ronnie's side chest in 1998 is probably the best side chest of all time. The seperation he had combined with the fullness was unique. Such a shame that I am 14 years to late in New York right now, I would have given everything to be a witness of the moment that changed bodybuilding forever.
Ronnie KING Coleman, the greatest bodybuilder of all time.
Personally i think ronnie dominated but have a feeling he wouldnt of won had he not the blown the others away when it comes to his lower body conditioning from the rear.
benevolent vaginal showers? Wow such a wordsmith. That can def happen. I do NOT want the Sahara Desert.
At first it looked like Flex can at least stand next to Ronnie from the front, but then they turned around and the lat spread Ronnie flared out melted the judge's brains.
As an IFBB-section thread grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Ronnie Coleman approaches 1, no matter what the topic was supposed to discuss originally.

You're not wrong in a way. But thats why it was so unthinkable for him to have won that year. Ronnie made all these small adjustments from the previous year. Before 98, I don't think he ever brought his razor glutes(wut) plus the sudden detail in his physique.
