upset belly from different protein powders

I have been having issues with both soy and whey protein powder(I am lactose intolerant, so any whey protein has to be lactose free). It either gives me heartburn, or makes me feel bloated. I have digestive issues with wheat as well as dairy, so I'm not sure what other options are out there.

Any recommendations for dairy/wheat free protein powder that is easy to digest? I have seen hemp and pea protein, but they are so expensive!

Whey isolate is theoretically lactose free but it depends on the quality of the processing.

Are you able to tolerate egg?

Other than that, alternatives are expensive. You shouldn't struggle to get sufficient protein through your diet alone though.

Looks like you're out of options. Unfortunately, whey protein is about the most economical forms of protein powder and any other alternatives seem more expensive IMO. Maybe you could incorporate protein through your diet instead of relying on supplements. Chickens, tuna and eggs are some popular food that's high in protein. Eat more of those and you'll be fine.

Its honestly better to get the bulk of your protein intake from food anyways. I personally dont know any particular brands that may work for you

Like someone else mentioned, you can try an isolate. They are suppose to be lactose free. Regular whey makes me sick to my stomach even though I'm not lactose intolerant, but isolate doesn't!

I am on a non-dairy diet so I just started using Dymatize Elite Egg Protein. I used it for the first time this morning. I added it to soy milk and it was pretty sweet but definitely drinkable. I will try it with water tonight and see how it goes. I expected a bad taste this morning but that was not an issue. It's also not expensive.
