Exclamation Why you shouldn't trust the internet with your symtpoms.

You're at the gym, you're in the middle of your work, and you feel something wrong just happened to your body. You're concerned as hell and want to know what could be the cause of your pain. Did you pull a muscle? Did you harm your tendons and/or ligament? Herniate a disc?

You go on google, and you type out your symptoms. You click on the various links, and already, you're getting more and more stressed. Why? Because the internet has revealed that you have some crazy injury/disease that would take months to heal. You're angry as hell and don't know what to do, so you go on this forum, and these guys tell you something else.

I'm here to tell you right now, please stop believing every single thing on the internet. We are complex organisms, we are all different. Our pains and injuries could be from a variety things, and as such, may require a variety of methods to fix those things. We tend to observe simple claims and relate to others when we shouldn't. Everything you read online are "best guesses." You can not, under any circumstances, be diagnosed online. There are many factors and conditions that play a role to you, your workouts, your injuries, and your gains. You progress and fallback depending on your actions and motions, no one elses.

On that note, the best thing you can do here is come for some "Bro Science" by bro science, I mean the following.

Bro Science is a term that is used to describe medical assessment in an informal environment. This forum, which focuses on body building, serves a cause whereby other gym-goers go and discuss their symptoms with others. More than often, you will hear "Go see a doctor, medical professional, sports specialist, chiropractor, and so on. You will also see many people say "You probably have X, here's a link to it."

This information IS useful, but it is NOT concrete. To give you an example:

Yesterday, I was working out back and noticed pain in my elbow. I go online, do some searches, and noticed that my symptoms relate to Tennis Elbow. Yet, I was skeptical of this. Why?

1 - Rarely, rarely ever does a "single blow" cause tennis elbow. It's caused my repeated movements in the wrong form over a prolonged period of time
2 - Rarely does noticeable swelling occur on the outer form of the elbow with Tennis Elbow.
3 - The pain vanished in 2 hours after using RICE and applying pressure on the tendons (although I still do have certain soreness the day after)

Turns out, I pulled a muscle due to incorrect form which forced a muscle spasm. The swelling was due to a bug bite. The doctor clarified this.

These stories may be rare, but they do happen, and I'd like to assure you that the things you read online are not the cause of your symptoms 100% of the time.

The best thing you can do is this

1 - Talk to people who experienced similar symptoms and DO NOT REACH CONCLUSIONS, just look around for what the cause MAY be

2 - With this symptoms in mind, and these assessments, go see a medical professional so you have a basis to talk to them about.
For example: Me: Doc, I think I have symptoms for Tennis Elbow, Doctor: You don't, Me: Why? Doctor: If you had Tennis Elbow, you would experiences X, Y, Z.

The point of bro science is to get you informed, not to be persuaded. Please do not ever reach conclusions until you have concrete proof of something.
