How much interval is recommended between two sets

    Hi Friends,

My aim is to lose fat and bring definition to the muscles. My ques is what should be the interval between two succesive sets?

I have been following "100 pushups programme" (not able to post the link as my number of posts are lesser than the required) from past 2.5months but still I can do only 50-55 pushups in one go. I mix 4 other exercises with pushups and do them all 4 times a week, so its a combination of 5 exercises on a day. I perform these exercises in circular fashion and by the time I come to the 2nd set of a single exercise, its almost a gap of 10mins, whereas in the "100 pushups programme" mentioned above, the interval between 2 consecutive sets varies between 45 to 120 seconds. Is it because of the longer gap that I am not able to see the desired results? To achieve the gap mentioned above, I will have to do only one exercise at a time, finish all the sets of that exercise and then move on to the other, but I am not following this approach now. Shall I start following this approach now?
I have also heard/read of something Interval training. Is the training mentioned in the website above an Interval training?

Please suggest me what is wrong with my current workout routine and what should be the best way forward.

    Some stats -

    Age-26
    Weight - 88Kg
    Height- 5'11"

    Thanks James0566,

So if I just want to be able to do 100 pushups as of now and not focus on losing fat/weight, what should be my routinel,4 times a week with 8-10 reps having a rest of 60-90 seconds? Also, is the gap of 60-90 seconds good enough for the strength or it should be more?
