Talking sore abs

i trained my abs hard this thursday and they still hurt really bad today, but i just trained them again saturday...should i not train the agin till they feel 100% better? i mean they are really sore i could barely finish yesterdays ab workout they hurt so bad...should i not train them again till the pain is gone on the chance that i might over train them?...also, what are the affects of overtraining anyways?

i heard that abs have a quicker recovery rate, that you can work them probably every 48 hrs....personally i do them about 2 or 3 times a week (this is weighted, in my gym class sometimes we do toning which is just plain crunches). if its hurting real bad i would wait and also make sure you are doing the exercises correctly (im never really very sore, but i work hard). overtraining i believe is gonna be very bad for your muscles, they need time to recuperate. overtraining will also probably decrease your performance, you will be tired all the time and your muscles will be worn out.

Thanks Sportyhp!...yeah this is the first time they really hurt but it's also the first time i did weighted crunches on a machine so that may be why they're sorer than usual.
