If you would like to dose 0.75mg per week, then taking 0.25mg on something like Monday morning, Wednesday evening, and Friday before bed would be an option.
Doubling the dose to 0.5mg or taking 0.2mg ED would get you inside the saturation zone though. But your dosing schedule should still be almost as effective.
If you are worried about side effects, they are not correlated to how much you take. If you are trying to save some money, then it's still a very good alternative.

Wow long azz thread.
My hair is slightly starting to thin. Not in one specific area, but all over my hair is not quite as thick as it was when I was 16-24.
Is there any product that I could use that would help to make my hair thick again?**CANADIAN CREW**

Try minox and see what it does for your hair. Don't expect to see results for atleast 10 months though, srs. Also, it'll just be a temporary fix. As in, once you see that you've been using minox for a couple of years, and your hair is still thinning, then get on fin.

My hair has started thinning at the crown, but not receding yet. I've recently started using niz 1% and biotin(not helping I know.) I want to start using minox and start at 2%, and then maybe in the future go to 5%.
Is the only difference between mens and womens minox that they are 5% and 2% respectively? Also is there a preference between liquid and foam?
Thanks, will measly rep when I reach fiddy posts.

Brahs, what's everyone's take on vitamin A and hairloss?
Recently I've been eating a lot of sweet potatoes, carrots and spinach everyday and I'm wondering if such Vitamin A dense foods can have a negative impact on hairloss? 1000% over the recommended daily allowance can't be healthy right?
Also many users of accutane report hairloss and i'm wondering if there is a link and should be worried?Bench press :135kg/300lbs
Squat: 160kg/350lbs
Deadlift: 220kg/485lbs

Well I'm finishing med school and interested in derm, just want to know what this guy is basing his advice on...
The current dosing regimens that exist are tested in large cohorts of people and deemed the standard of therapy. Deviating from this is not recommended.
Just don't want fellow miscers to get hurt.

A big part of the equation is profits, true.
Not to mention the amount of R&D to produce an affordable retail cure will be very expensive and lengthy, and only likely possible by big pharmaceutical companies, whom have no incentive to discontinue their lines of products for temporary hair treatments.

xREDSTARx and Glutamine brahs, can you guys comment on this?
I remember reading a while back that its "okay" to apply rogaine to damp hair, and it is generally better to do so to gain the maximum benefits from the Rogaine foam. And now I read this...

That's probably lanugo what you're referring to. The outside of your ear is cartilage, and there's hardly any blood vessels feeding the cartilaginous portion of the ear. Don't think minoxidil would be enough to have those hairs grow on your ear.
I've read mixed results of retina with minoxidil. I had read some stuff that it helps, and I've read some stuff that it shouldn't really be recommended. It helps with the absorption, but shouldn't be using that much retina on a daily basis, as it would dry out/peel off the scalp skin.
Where'd you come up with the figure of 1000% over the rda figure?
I've always applied it to my hair when it's wet. Been doing this for close to two years now. It's the first thing I do when I get out of the shower, and haven't had any issues. Remember, the foam or liquid isn't getting absorbed the hair follicles, but rather by the scalp. You want to ensure that you're getting the foam/liquid into the scalp, as it needs to get metabolized by the liver so it can have its desired effects.

You probably will not induce Hypervitaminosis-A without supplementation, if you stay away from liver and cod liver oil.
Even then, hair-loss should be the least of your worries, and is reversible.
Accutane is a potent inhibitor of 5AR1, which would in turn shut down sebum production in the skin pores, thus eliminating acne. The body super compensates this by increasing 5AR2 production which is located mostly in the hair follicles and prostate, thus accelerating androgenic alopecia.
Both posts are true. A well-hydrated scalp is more permeable and will better absorb topical agents.
However, excessive systematic absorption can lead to faster heartbeats as hypotension starts kicking in.
You'd have to try it out yourself and assess your personal tolerance. Not everyone exhibits the same skin absorption.

I don't even know why people bother with this crap. Who wants to apply foam to their head twice a day or take
medication everyday for the rest of your life ?
I would feel more confident being bald rather than taking medication to keep hair on my head. All it
shows is insecurity which would make me feel even more insecure, almost because I'm living a lie.
Sure life looks good on the outside but its pretty sad on the inside, much like those people who are
broke as f*ck but still roll around in BMW's living a lie and taking credit for something they don't deserve.
Hate to sound like a broken record but its a hell of a lot easier just to buzz it and move along. I'm sure
within the decade they will be offering hair cloning at some point but until then..

You are describing it from your point of view.
Taking medication to maintain my appearance may not stem from insecurity, and if anything, an insecure person trying to keep his hair using treatments will be even more insecure going bald.
I do it purely for cosmetic reasons, I want to keep my hair because I feel it is part of who I am and who I am trying to represent as a person.
Call it vanity if you wish, but I have no problems taking a pill every other day, rather than constantly worry about how much has my hairline receded and how much time I have left to enjoy what remains.
To each his own.

Does Minox foam and/or S5 cream cause acne? I've been acne prone my whole life but last few months my forehead and temples have been breaking out pretty bad and I have these tiny little bumps on my skin. Can't really see them but can feel them touching my skin. I only apply Rogaine and S5 cream at night so is it possible that it can cause acne? Since it's not all over my face I feel like it might be due to the topicals.
And if so, what should I do to stop/limit it?
