There all different. 10 was by far my favorite. 7 was awesome. I disliked 12 and 13. 11 and 14 are MMORPG. 8 and 9 never really drew me in

X is my favorite. Love the turn-based battle system. Great story with many feels. I'd say X-HD is the best to start with since it's more modern than others and if you enjoy the Final Fantasy concept, move onto the older ones. I say save 7 for last (the remake) because I'm sure it'll deliver better. The original 7 didn't age too well

one of the developers said that the classic system looks out of place with modern graphics. I agree with that but I think the old game mechanics are great for what they are and the original will always be remembered as a milestone in gaming

Probably because SE have moved past that now and would consider it a step back, its something they have discussed before. Not exactly thrilled with it, but there was going to have to be changes.

Looks good... just hope there's a way to turn off the damage counter that appears above enemies heads when you hit them.

Appears as though they're going to use the same basic combat system as Kingdom Hearts.

Hopefully you can pull off some neat combos, and hopefully there's a jump command/aerial combos.

because the classic battle system is considered outdated and only works with cartoony games and it would look funny with more realistic graphics. the quote from the producer is - “The original version is a game that came out in 1997, and if you look at it today, you can feel how dated the graphics and the game system are… However, that’s also part of Final Fantasy VII. We haven’t shown any gameplay yet, but since we’re updating them quite a bit, please look forward to that… Since we now formally revealed Kazushige Nojima’s name for the scenario, there will be more plot devices in the story, so I think you can also look forward to that.”

not saying it's better, i like the old system more than the new action based style but this new mechanics is what most people play now on rpgs and keeping it old school would be considered a step back

Looks like you have a limit bar that fills as you attack and then you can pull off some sort of limit, looks like there was an updated version of Braver and Cross Slash, not sure what the other one was where Cloud just flys forward, maybe new specials? At least we can see magic and summons, hopefully the materia system hasnt changed and you can actually see them slotted into weapons etc...
