Why do people say this? If it was true, they would snowball and become ultra powerful, because obviously people are going to be scared if they observe a ghost/demon. I'm not scared of paranormal beings, but I sure as hell would be if i was haunted by one. Why don't they keep getting more powerful?

I have definitely experienced abnormal, seemingly unexplainable things but I have always found relative explanations for them. For instance, watching my computer chair do 360's in place while I was certain that I was awake (I was a kid btw). I now rationalize that what I was seeing wasn't actually happening in real life but happening in a dream that mimicked the real life environment of my bedroom, so I was actually dreaming about sleeping in my bed. Even today, the same thing happens to me and I realize i'm dreaming the events. Last week I could have swore there was an furry animal crawling around my neck and pillows and I even remember reached out to grab it and how it freaked out and got out of my grasp. The events made me wake up but I realized I only reached in my dream, not in real life. That arm was actually dead and very stiff so there was no possible way I moved in real life, those events happened in a parallel dream that was very convincing but not true. You mirin my detective skills?
