    Annoying nutrition labels

    I bought a 3 lb bag of red potatoes yesterday.

    The serving size is "1 medium potato (148 g)." Each one contains 110 calories.

    I'm looking at these potatoes and they're tiny - some the size of a golf ball! I'm thinking to myself that there's no way that one of those is 110 calories.

    Turns out there were 22 potatoes in the bag. Each potato is not 148 grams, but an average of 62 grams - less than half of the medium potato at 148 grams.

    I wish they'd just say that the serving size is 100 grams or something and be done with it. Or even use 148, but don't specify "1 medium potato."

    I cooked 11 of them and split them into three servings, so each of my servings is about 186 grams, or around 140 calories.

    It's like selling a box of 3 oz granola bars and saying the serving size is a 5 oz granola bar.

    You are talking about vegetables that come in all shapes and sizes. Any nutrition info is clearly gonna be an average. If you are that anal then weigh it like you did and be done with it. Missed the CPA in your name of course you are gonna be anal about numbers. If it's not boxed/pre-packaged then weigh and calculate.

    Nah, it doesn't really matter because I calculated the macros already.

    I slice them up and stir fry them anyway. If I was baking them for a single serving, then I definitely would buy larger potatoes.

    Yes, it will be average, and I don't have a problem with the serving size in grams. I just found it annoying that it specified "1 medium potato."

    I did not weigh any of them, d!ckhead.

    My apologies......yes you got jipped and got small potatoes instead of medium. Guess my point was NOT WORTHY OF IT'S OWN THREAD. My coffee hasn't kicked in yet. I will be more accepting in a bit.

    148g = 110kcal. Therefore 100g = 74kcal.

    Problem solved.

    It's annoying that it specified "1 medium potato." Nothing else on the label annoyed me.

    Thanks for contributing to my thread on a topic that was not worthy of "it's" own thread.

    The above statement/post does not represent the opinions of anyone in real life. This is the internet. Not real life. Anyone who cannot grasp the difference between the two lacks the basic intelligence necessary for survival and should not be allowed to form opinions.
