I'm making this with Jack this weekend. If it turns out as well as I hope, I'll make several more batches for his teachers. I'm thinking of a gift basket with the sauce, apples, and pretzels.

Dayquil and Sudafed should be avoided if working out. They've been known to mess with your blood pressure.

Jack has started calling Big Sexy, "Doug." At first it was just as a way to annoy Sexy. Now he's calling him that even when Sexy's not around. Jack told me this morning, "Call Doug! Remind him . . . ."
We've had to have a few talks about respect and that he can only call one man "Dad," he shouldn't waste that opportunity.
It's still kind of funny. Jack takes his cues from me. I live to annoy Sexy. It's my favorite thing. And Jack seems to have the same thing as a hobby. Poor Doug.Simp's Back: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=165133671&page=1

I really am. Jack is 100% my twin except he's got Sexy's coloring. Other than that he's a little mini-me. Good and bad.
This never gets old. NEVER!!!!
You're welcome.

Erin, why did you delete that. It's a fear ALL of us have.
The thought of our son driving was BAD and the anxiety leading up to it was worse; but now that he's been driving a bit now it got easier. He's a careful driver and cautious. We drilled into his head no drinking and driving (he's not a big drinker), and DEFINITELY no getting into a car with anybody. We will come and get him ANYTIME, ANYWHERE.

What's weird for us now is that we have given him all of the tools, knowledge, common sense, and advice to make the right decisions. At 17, he'll have to use his judgement and we have to trust him. We cannot MAKE him do everything we want. This is hard for my wife to accept because he will have to learn the hard way, sometimes that's what it takes.
Again though, fortunately for us, our son is sharp and gets it......he's a good kid and that alone makes me feel good.

I didn't want to be Debbie Downer.
What's hard about this was that the kids in question did everything right. There were a lot of cars on the road as the game they went to see were the 2 big college teams in the are, so there were a lot of witnesses. They were in the right lane doing the speed limit. The car that hit them was doing 15-20 mph over the speed limit, the driver had been drinking, and he went from the left lane all the way over to the right lane, where he clipped their back end. They have been doing major construction where they were hit, so the guard rails were down. Making it kind of a perfect storm.
You kind of forget these things can happen until they do.https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=17995794

I saw your FB post about that, Erin.
FUKING kills me that people still drive after drinking. Last year 4 kids (mid-teens) were killed by a drunk driver. He walked away unharmed. AND got his license back early because he worked in a town over and it was just too hard for him to get to work and get groceries and things.
I can't even imagine how the parents of those boys felt.
There are few things in this world that anger me as much a drunk drivers.DAYUM!!!

No excuse for drinking and driving. None. One person was at my house once, drank all night, then snuck off home. I barred her. She has never set foot in my house again, nor will she ever, as I've not spoken to her since. Barred.
(If I knew how to insert the angry face here, I would.)No drama: You know where we are.

Made this. Jack loved it. Sexy, who's not much on sweets, said it was ok. I thought it was terrible. I'm trying a different version later in the week. I'll let everyone know how that goes because I know you're going to be beside yourself with curiosity.

I haven't even reached the point that I can worry about gifts. Work is crazy because everything has to be done between semesters. And Boy Scouts seems to think it's a good time to recharter. I've been chasing down grown adults for registration fees and updated training.

Um, yeah!!
Excuse me while I pick my jaw up off the floor....
I'm pretty much done Christmas shopping. I have the boys' stockings and a couple things for a friend. I pretty much know what I want, it's just a matter of going to get it. And praying everything I've ordered is delivered in time.
I pulled everything out to start wrapping Saturday night and realized we bought a bit too much. So I bagged the extra up and dropped it in a Santa's Anonymous box. Delivery is next weekend and I'm hoping we can make it to the depot on time this year to help out.
Also did a SHIITON of baking Saturday. I think the Christmas Spirit got me!DAYUM!!!

Aw, shucks. Thanks, guys!
I've been picking things up here and there. I think I'm pretty well done with the boys. I was a little short for Mike, but he gave me some ideas over the weekend, so we ran out and got him stuff. He's at a really hard age!
I've also been slowly baking. Did 2 different kinds of cookies last night. Not thrilled with one of them, but everyone else seems to like them! I'm going to make some more plus some candy this weekend. That's what Mike gives all his teachers since it's too much to get them each a gift.https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=17995794

No Christmas baking for me. I don't enjoy it. I do like making candy, though. Jack has requested that we make some peanut brittle (he likes to see it foam up) and some lemon suckers over Christmas break. He's such a little scientist. We're not allowed to use a thermometer. Instead we do the candy in cold water testing. It's such a thrill for him. I don't know at what age he'll outgrow it, but I'm going to love making candy with him until the minute he stops.

I've never made peanut brittle, but that's one of the things I want to make this weekend. Mike likes to cook, so we'll do it together. Kevin talks a big game, but doesn't have the attention span to stay in the kitchen.

It's a fun one to make. Make it in a big pot because when you add the soda it will fizz up like crazy. I think the key to making hard candy is to have some marble to pull it on. I'm lucky to have a big slab of marble that was my grandmothers for all my candy making and cookie cutouts.
