thanks mate for the bump broseph :3
your DB press is quite a bit ahead man! plus i wont be doing them really once i start getting back into dips properly :/ 135 is what im doing right now too, hopefully will get 3 plates in the near future!
with all your study that is understandable aha, why not deload at 60% or so for some quick sessions this week? i would it's better really
thanks man!
well let's hope so.. before my incident a few weeks back my bench was stalling like hell for a while.. im hoping the decent sized reset will result in more PRs for a while.. dont know how long for though.. we'll find out together i guess!"It is what you do with the knowledge that dictates who you are" - Xuaxace

Today was very off.. Had a big exam in my last 2 periods of school which was right before training which is tiring, was also up late studying for it so i didn't get as much sleep..
i woke up with my hamstring feeling tight as fuk again, so i spent quite a while rolling it out but it tightened on my last set again, causing me to lean forward a bit too much i think. not to mention my quads are still DOMSd from the widowmaker lol, that wasn't a big deal though.
Squat
110kg(242lbs) x 5
130kg(285lbs) x 5
152.5kg(336lbs) x 5PR
BB Row
100kg(220lbs) x 6
110kg(242lbs) x 4(grip slipped on 5th rep)
120kg(264lbs) x 4 matched pr
GHR
BW x 8
3 x BW+10kg(22lbs) x 8
BW x 12
these are killer, really liking them.
Cable Row
2 x 70kg(154lbs) x 8
65kg(145lbs) x 10, 7, 6 RP
DB Curl
4 x 22.5kg(50lbs) x 10
was just very drained coming into the workout today, not to mention tight (nohomo).
still a good day, i hit my squat goal which is good, i was just expecting it to be a bit easier. can't complain though!
got 2 exams on Wednesday that are worth quite a bit, both 2-2.5 hours :/ so got a bit ahead of me. after though i have holidays and no real stresses which i'm looking forward to for sure.. just a lot of work to do for the next couple of days.
152.5 x 5 squat (apologies for terrible angle):

Squats were decent, I definitely think that being tired did play a bit of a role in the reps being harder than they should be. Regardless if you can pull through with the reps on a bad day, on a good day you would kill it. So you probably have some decent progression still left. Good stuff

yep
yeah that is true, i wasn't as tight as usual today (i feel nohomo must be said)
hahaha much appreciated James
squats really were not great, appreciate it though. form was off which is always a drag but oh well, once these exams are over ill be back to how i used to be.
hoping i still have quite a bit of progression left!

ughhh... today was not so good. had 2 exams, 4 hours worth. back felt tight as **** after it and had to spend quite a while rolling it out. hip flexors felt unusually tight too...
but was just very very tired after exams, mentally drained.
Bench
100kg(220lbs) x 3
110kg(242lbs) x 3
122.5kg(270lbs) x 3+1 where the spotter grabbed it just before the lock out. this did not end well for him, i will leave it at that
Deadlift
160kg(365lbs) x 3
190kg(418lbs) x 3PR
DB Seated OHP
30kg(66lbs) x 10
35kg(77lbs) x 8
40kg(88lbs) x 4
**** that.
Guillotine Fly
3 x 27kg(60lbs) x 12
Lateral Raise
3 x 22.5kg(50lbs) x 10
ugh... not good today.
did my best to get myself psyched, bench really wasn't too bad, i actually think i had that 4th rep but the spotter grabbed it... i won't go into that.
deadlift was much harder than last week, but i was speaking with Xuaxace and he pointed out/agreed that there are definitely some form issues to be adjusted to get more out of my deadlift. it's not that im deadlifting un-safely, just that i could pull more if i fixed it.
i've already found things to correct through him which was a big help (thank you again<3).. i'm just a bit disappointed in myself that i didn't pick up on it myself, i know these things.
anyway, there video is below. if you have any suggestions please feel free to put them in.
today was worse than last week, in terms of form. probably best to base it off last weeks deadlift as my form is usually like that.

Adam you're just doing what we all do when the weight gets heavy:
1. Your hips rise a bit faster than your shoulders
2. You're pulling up instead of back, losing a bit of power
3. It's 190kg and a PR, I think you're doing greatI'm aware I'm a wolf

hopefully not too far away! thanks bro
thanks James definitely appreciate that.
the issue goes a bit further than that - as Xuaxace pointed out to me yesterday, my starting position especially isn't optimal. i try to squat the deadlift up, i.e. my hips are way too low. this then leads to my hips rising up well before my shoulders, also putting my back further forward than it should be for optimal strength.
my hips being too low is also the cause for my shins being at an angle, rather than as vertical as they could/should be.
almost all these issues should be pretty much resolved once i focus on starting with my hips higher, so it's an easy fix.
these are all just in hopes of improving strength.

Squat
115kg(253lbs) x 5
135kg(296lbs) x 5
155kg(341lbs) x 3PR
Wrapped
170kg x 0.5.. squatted half way down and got the greatest calf cramp of all time. no thanks. squatted back up very easily though. i will stay raw for now, not interested in wraps for the moment - will get used to them only if i decide to compete in a fed that allows them in future and have someone to do it for me.
[i]UnWrapped[/b]
120kg(264lbs) x 8
Deadlift (want to get used to adjusted for, higher hips)
180kg(396lbs) x 1
190kg(418lbs) x 1
2 x 180kg(396lbs) x 1
pretty easy, especially given after heavy squatting.
Pull Ups
BW+5kg(11lbs) x 8, 6, 6
light, given i will be training tomorrow due to a program adjustment for this week.
happy with today minus the wraps part! calf still feels very uncomfortable.
I tried using a higher hip position, but i feel like maybe theyre still a bit too low. will try higher again on sunday again.
ive adjusted training timetable for this week due to training with Layne on tuesday, so expect updates the next 2 days!
155kg x 3:
180kg(396lbs) x 1
190kg(418lbs) x 1
Oh and please give any input on the deadlift thought no point in doing them unless they were a bit heavy at least!"It is what you do with the knowledge that dictates who you are" - Xuaxace

Nice squatting, how did you feel with them? Was seeing a bit more disparity with hip/torso speed, so must be getting heavy! Good stuff regardless, looked clean.
as far as deadlifts. I really liked them, I think the set up (almost parallel torso/high hip is what your leverages dictate IMO). The only way to lower the torso would be to round the upper back, not something for now I would assume lol. How did you feel with them? The bar wasn't shifting upon initianing the movement, neither was the hips or torso, I think that is a result!
Keen to see what drake thinks!

I agree with you that hips are still a bit too low. Also you still seem to be pulling the bar up as opposed to back and driving your legs through the floor.

back was DOMSd from yesterday, but mostly my elbow was ****ed again. sternum felt fine, but elbow stopped me from doing dips this time.
my second rep on bench was dreadful, the bar path changed mid rep and moved it into a guillotine sort of position.. the 3rd and 4th reps were fine though.
i know i have the 5th rep if everything runs smoothly..
i feel like my injuries are always much worse when i train in the mornings like i did today.. makes sense due to body temperature being lower.
just wasn't so happy with it.
accessory stuff is going well though, pretty happy with how db bench is coming along after being so weak for so long."It is what you do with the knowledge that dictates who you are" - Xuaxace

squats definitely felt heavier, so i am probably getting into the 'slowing down' phase.. but i will see how i go with 155 x 5 tomorrow.. see if i can change that!
thanks mate, i definitely feel the deadlift was stronger - the leverages certainly better suit me but i knew exactly what drake was going to say.. still a bit too low, but i dont think much more raising of the hip will be necessary, i might even find that i was right that time! rounding the upper back certainly wont be harmful if it suits me, but i feel i wont need to. i agree with you though, this hip position is definitely very close to what my leverages suit. i will practice again tomorrow after squatting!
but 190 was pretty easy, which was sort of surprising after all the squatting. so definitely an improvement!
i heard you were indian
just kidding, you and your accent is too sexy to be anything but spanish.
Chris! good to see you back here man <3 thanks!
Layne is on an Australian tour and James is coming to my city for a holiday, these holidays are gon' be good!
thanks man!
let's hope i can keep progressing!
yeah i felt they were, wil try higher again tomorrow and see how i go. i must say, i felt much stronger yesterday than earlier.. so i could be right with this position. but that's not say i wont feel stronger still with higher hips.
and yeah that is just habit that im going to have to get out of. because of my shin position caused by the way i used to deadlift, im just used to pulling up instead of back. will focus on pulling back more tomorrow too.
i seriously really appreciate all your help man, thanks again."It is what you do with the knowledge that dictates who you are" - Xuaxace
