Hi, PC Thanks for delurking! Stay and hang out with us!
Thank you! Were you young during your first pregnancy? Pregnant teens are some of my favorite patients to work with, as long as they are compliant. I feel like a lot of them are scared, have a limited support system, the baby's dad will usually bail, and once I earn their trust, they will usually confide in me. I've worked with several as they go through the adoption process and get to meet the adoptive parents and that is some tough stuff emotionally.
Awe, thanks, Snake! Means a lot!
Hey, if anyone knows the screwed up system ... it's you, E. Between the two of us, we've probably saved more then one dr's azz! I will tell Mr. Bossman to pound sand ... and then I'll poke him in the eye with Lord Endodontist's $200 pen
CC, the same can sure be said for you, my friendCaring about what people think of you is useless. Most people don't even know what they think of themselves.

I was 17. My dad and I weren't close at the time (are now), my mom was very cold and didn't talk to me much once she found out until the last couple months. My son's dad treated me like crap. I worked and went to school, and my teachers were the ones that really helped me through, the only ones that were compassionate. When I went to my doctor's appointments I had to deal with a couple nurses who took the opportunity to belittle me about my age. I heard that "babies having babies" bit too many times and was blatantly told I would never be able to be a good mother. I was once hospitalized for a bad kidney infection and the nurse who took my vitals when I first got there told me that if I'd just quit being selfish and drink enough water then I wouldn't have these problems and then she told me I was too young to have a baby if I wouldn't listen. (Turns out baby was laying on my kidney wrong and was blocking it and that was why I was having so many problems.) Anyway, it was terrible.
My son was born prematurely and was sent to a nicu 3 hours from home. I will never forget how wonderful his nurses were and how patient they were. I was so scared of them at first and really didn't want to talk to them because of how I was treated during my pregnancies. They were the ones that showed me how to nurse my son, they were the ones that let me stay longer than I was supposed to and watch my son sleep, they were the ones that told my son's doctor that I had missed my finals to stay with him and that I was graduating in two days and was going to miss it. Turns out they talked the doctor into letting him go home a couple days earlier than planned so I wouldn't miss my graduation. I've always regretted not being able to tell them how much their kindness meant.
Anyway, sorry for the book, but just never think your kindness goes unappreciated, to a young mother especially.

yep! i was gonna ask if you use dumbells or how you get the weight that high. would it be cheating to use a vest as well as a dumbell? i think my arms would give out before my legs.
and it's hard hard hard work being a nurse, but those days, when you feel like all the effort you do made a difference, are really good days. thanks for working diligently to help those women have a happy experience doing something that is hard and scary but should also be filled with joy. OB nurses do make a huge impact on women who are about to be moms.

Thanks, E! I'm crazy sore today though ... tomorrow will be worse, I'm sure. Yep, gearing up for all of the sessions next week
Oh man, CP, that's truly unacceptable treatment you received. Unfortunately, I do see exactly what you experienced go on .... it's not our place to judge anyone and it's certainly not our place to give subpar treatment and be unkind. You know, just because someone has a degree in something does not mean they are good at it. It just means they passed a whole bunch of tests and got a frame-worthy piece of paper. I think there are just some things that can't be taught. Sadly, I see my own practice act that way. I'll hear a lot of derogatory comments when a teen comes in pregnant and I always say ... give them to me. They really are some of my favorite patients to work with. I'm kind of a MamaSwoosh
Sounds like you rose above your challenges and are an awesome mom! It's not easy road to travel. Thank you for sharing your story
Hi Geek .... I know you know! I'd sure want you to be my nurse ... the best!!
I use one DB for Goblet Squats ... but, yes, that 70 was a little hard on my arms so I did hold it more waist level (is that cheating???) It was still definitely tough. My trainer used to have me do these squats where he would unrack a hundo and I would have to squat down, pick it up then hold the weight fully extended and tap the floor with it during each squat. Does anyone know what those are called? They're hard, but I really liked them.
Oh I love the Smith leg presses. Hits the glutes hard. I like them much more then the standard leg press machineCaring about what people think of you is useless. Most people don't even know what they think of themselves.

Oh yeah? Well, we could call them Calijoshoomer presses .... cause it took all of you for me to start doing them
Thanks, Mr. Flex! I appreciate that!
Oh I'm in waddle mode, for sure. The pain and suffering is increasing by the hour!! Waddle On
Thanks, llahhsoj! I start them in the position that you see in the picture. Off the rack, resting on the safety. Getting that first push off is the toughest part because I don't want to arch my back to do it. I don't think I could unrack the bar with my feet though ... is that how you do it? Maybe I could. I haven't tried it.
HELP!!!!!
It looks like some panel covering the undercarraige of my car is hanging off and only attached to an area closest to the front of my car. I'm not sure what this is or what to do .... I don't speak car at all It just looks like some kind of protective plastic cover and it seems like maybe some screws just fell off somehow. Do you think I can squeeze under there and just hook it back on??? Sooooooooo car dumb. If someone will come over and take a look, I'll fix you dinnerCaring about what people think of you is useless.
