    ***super*** foods

What are some of your off-the-beaten-path superfoods that maybe not a lot of people eat on a regular basis and may even be specific to your part of the world? I'm looking for something different to add to my nutrition profile. I would like to maybe add some kind of seaweed as I've heard it is excellent for you but am not really sure where to purchase it and wonder if dried seaweed or reconstituted seaweed would work. I'd also maybe like to add maca powder to my diet but haven't tried it and was wondering if you guys had any thoughts on that and whether you noticed any performance difference from consuming it.

Oh and cinnamon and maple syrup.

Those things are super fukin delicious

@ maca, I recently started putting some into my oatmeal concoction (cocoa, cinnamon, maca, sometimes pure vanilla powder as well). Not for any 'benefits' but because I enjoy the taste and I find it adds some thickness to the texture once I let it sit for a few minutes.

If you're looking for nutritionally dense foods, green veggies are the way to go. Also eggs. And certain animal organs depending on the nutrients you're looking for.

I eat beef liver every chance I get. 2oz of it is around 25g protein and is loaded with nutrients - tons of vitamin B12, vitamin A, riboflavin, zinc, iron, and selenium. Cook it in bacon grease with some onions and garlic.

    Super aka nutrient dense

Only foods I would consider "Super" due to their nutritional benefits that I eat regularly..

    Beef liver
    Fermented Raw milk/kefir
    Raw dark red vegetables

There are many options you can include in your diet, but it comes down to waht you consider a "Super" food.

    Cinnamon

It helps with blood pressure and blood glucose over time. Need a steady intake though. It tastes good and congeals like psyllium, but doesn't taste nasty.

    Ginger, dried and powdered

Great in cooking, over popcorn, soups, stews, stir fries, or in hot water as a tea. Helps with sickness, stomach cramps, mild sedative effect, decent pain reliever over a period of several hours for joints and back. Just don't take too much, it'll cause your intestines to bleed out.

The term "super foods" is inherently a marketing term. Most foods considered to be "super foods" aren't nutritionally dense. There are certain foods out there that have dynamic capability of assisting you in various ways, such as the two above examples.

Does Tom Platz eat superfoodz in conjunction with his non-squat leg training that he used to not squat whilst squatting? Or, why do think you should even be taken seriously?

I was seriously interested in how you would define super food.

Is a forest berry a super food? Cauliflower? Egg? I seriously don't know.

    Super.

    Man, that really ....

    ....

    .... sets them apart.

Clearly, you've got this covered, from a macademiac standpoint. It's just nuts, the incredible amount of thought that went into that description.

Since this is such a highly subjective concept, why don't you just go to Cronometer and see the nutritional content for foods you think are "super"?

Eggs, potatoes and grass-fed butter are some of my "superfoods", but they might make someone else feel terrible.

DrFlexologist, might I suggest that if you query your fellow forum members to be less of a douchebag to their responses. A cheeseburger in a cape is damn funny.

Anyway, I don't eat any obscure super foods, just the common ones, like spinach (two lbs/week), blueberries (5 pints/week), eggs, onions, etc, plus the super supplements of fish oil and creatine.

If you're looking for nutritionally dense foods, green veggies are the way to go. Also eggs. And certain animal organs depending on the nutrients you're looking for.

how can one enjoy the taste of maca, it's one of the most disgusting tastes on earth dead srs

For correct understanding, it must contain all of the above to be called a super food?
