How long would water retention last for...

So before I started my 3-day onslaught binge, I was at my all-time lowest of 186.6lbs. Then I basically did 3 days of bingeing, ate whatever. Now, I'm not sure if I've gained 7lbs of fat, or if some of it is water-weight, I'm completely clueless. It has been 2 days since my binge-fest and my diet has been spot since(as it normally is).

How much can I expect of it to be water-weight and how much of it can I expect to be fat? I'm at 193.6lbs now. How long would the water retention last for, in your guy's experience?

    Thanks!

Not sure if it's the same but over xmas my diet went down the pan and I ate whatever, in a week I'd put on 6 LBS but a week after I'd cleaned my diet back up and started up the training I had dropped 4 of the 6 LBS, so honestly it's hard to say but for me personally it fell off nearly as quickly as it came. I'd imagine for the most part it's water, just see where you are in a couple more days.

If it's 3500 X 7 in excess of burned then 7 lbs of fat. Only you know.

After a binge I'd swing the other way for a few days, eliminate carbs and do low cal... should kill the binge. Always easy to lose binge if you go low afterwards, in my experience.

In my experience a single chinese buffet can make my weight be up for nearly a week. It really depends on what kind of junk you ate. Stuff with lots of sodium will really make you retain water. Eat clean & drink plenty of water for a week and then you'll see if there was actually any real weight gain.

    Thanks guys!

    We'll see in a week I suppose .

Also quick question, if I had 1 cheat meal a day, say enough to break even my maintenance(ontop of my regular meal, so about 2500cals total) would this in your guys' opinion hinder fatloss by a lot?

Break even = no calorie deficit = no fat loss

    Maybe I misunderstood...

However, you can eat what you want, maintain a caloric deficit, lose fat.

Well, for the past 3 days my diet has been spot on. I drank atleast a litre of water, did my business in the washroom, showered up and I'm at 194.2lbs. This is depressing. . . I know for a fact my cals are low, I count them religiously. Could it be the salt? I do use quite a bit of salt to add flavour to my veggies, meat and things like mustard, hotsauce and calorie-free sauces have some too.

    Uggh.

Like the rest said, mine usually takes a week, if it is a really big cheat. It is hard to know for sure when water-weight loss ends, and loss of new fat begins. But, for the first 2- 3 days, if you're losing 2 - 3 lbs a day, it's safe to say it's water weight. And sometimes it takes a couple days for it to start coming off, too.

Make sure you drink a bunch of water!

Salt can spike your water weight, but generally, if you're eating the same amount of salt every day, or close to it, your body stabilizes it, and it doesn't cause fluctuations.

Hmm... somebody's traveling light!... Meh, maybe you're getting stronger.... Well, I have been eating more!
