Someone just asked my on a separate thread why I want to get aesthetic...
These were the options I was given...
1) Get Girls
2) Ego
3) Attention
4) Self-Esteem
I can rule out #1 because I'm in a relationship and I'm happy with my catch.
I don't think for me it's any of the above. For me it's because it allows me to feel like I have some kind of control over my life. It gives me a mental strength that I don't find in doing anything else. I guess this could be put in the Self-Esteem pigeon-hole but perhaps not!?
Anyway....enough about me....
Why do YOU want to get aesthetic what is your motivation for slugging away in the gym, eating clean, and having your life revolve around generally picking things up and putting them down?
Srs. I'm interested....

i wouldnt say its about being aestheitc man. I mean yeah that's one thing, but i mean when it comes down to it.. its health and strength. so none of those options really fit. maybe just self esteem, but i mean.if you wanna get aesthetic you gotta lift and have strong lifts to get big, and then be healthy to get ripped. so. yeah. My aswer if it had to be contained would be self esteem. 4. but if i could add one, it would be i do this to healthy.

Interesting :-)
I smoke 20cigs p/day and I do absolutely zero cardio. On the inside I'm probably like 80yrs old. So for me it's not health.
Good solid and honest answer though.
Let's add healthy to the list...

Initially it started because I was the cool/sociably guy that everyone knew and liked (or so it seemed). Decided to up the anti with lifting.
Currently, I figured that if I won't be getting much taller than I am now (5'7) I would get thicker/solid/tight etc. A lot of people know about my goals and I sort of want to prove myself. Also the frequent compliments are a bonus

I just lift because I like it ... I started with martial arts ... Boxing was ok , then I moved to muay thai and got a bad injury in my leg after 4 months of training ... Tapped a bit into bodybuilding to recover then found it much more fun and safe (at least it's safe when one keeps his ego at the door)... In one word , it would either be a Passtime or Fun ... Sides, lifting weights makes ya happy, helps you get rid of the stress of the day.

I do it because I love the pumps, the feeling of smashing goals, and because pain is so close to pleasure, that it feels good to tear up my muscles.
Also, I feel that it weirdly organises my life.☆☆☆υк ¢яєω☆☆☆

To be fair, I think a bit of both. It gives me a sense of strictness on myself which timetables my life e.g. eating meals, sleep etc. But as you said, it does give me a sense of purpose aswell, I have tried multiple sports, some of them I have carried on, but If it came down to it, I would pick weightlifting out of all of them. I broke my wrist 10 weeks ago, lost a lot of my gains, went into depression and generally felt like ****. I think it was because I couldn't go to the gym. I craved it, I find it VERY addictive. People who find it a chore to go to the gym clearly haven't experienced the beauty of weighlifting.

I lift for strength so not much to do with aesthetics... (although I don't mind getting bigger, still high teen bf)
I like to lift because it is a mental challenge like no other and has tought me a lot about how everything can be archieved as long as maximum effort is put into the task, this has had A lot of carry over to my studies, from almost failing to getting good enough grades to do honours in finance (and hopefully first class honours this year).
The mental aspect is what draws me in so much.

Comparing cigs to steroids - what planet are you on?
I am addicted to cigarettes since starting (foolishly) 7yrs ago. I don't want to smoke but I do. If I trained to be healthy would I smoke? Probably not!
So...
1) my motivation to train is not for health.
2) I don't want to use steroids because I am afraid of the issues it can cause your heart (and because I've always seen it as a shortcut method / cheating in a way if you like).
3) I do care about my health in that I want to live. I just don't train to get fitter. Hence no cardio + the fact I smoke.
My points still stand. What was your point ? Don't try to use logic if you have an IQ of 19.
Also...The only reason I can assume you have just gone out of your way to try to undermine me without actually contributing anything useful is that you either;
A) The biggest saddest ******* that has ever walked this earth.
B) u jelly.
Which is it sir? And what are you ACTUALLY bringing to the table? By the looks of your AVI, absolutely **** all.
