i know you can gain strength while cutting/maint. but eventually plateau
-im going for the 198 and wanted to know whenever i do plateau should i
a. cut down a good bit below 198 and work my way up and repeat?
or
b. keep going up for now and then slowly cut down to 198?

you could probably grow up to 215-225ish and still make the 198's.
I guess it really depends how soon you plan on competing. Ideally, the leaner you are in your weight class the better. Take a look at the winners at RUM this year. Jay nera, and Kade Webber are both jacked compared to most of the other guys they lift against. Body fat isn't really functional.
