How fast/slow should I be gaining weight?

At what rate should I be gaining on a "bulk". First time I've ever bulked, I just started about 3 weeks ago and gained about 3 lbs. I guess like 3/4 to a pound a week. How long should I bulk for?

year most will say a lb to .5 a week because you only can gain about .25 .5 of dry muscle mass a week so anything more is fat. but i good bet is to aim for a lb

So would a good strategy be to bulk for let's say 20 weeks maybe gain 15 pounds, then cut for 12 weeks, to help control bf and make sure your not just adding a s**t load of fat?

Let us assume you gain 7.5lbs of muscle in those 20 weeks. Follow by cutting for 8 weeks losing 8lbs.
If you do this, you would be at a lower bf% than previously.
