So by the summer I will have enough saved up to make a pretty hefty down payment on a car (considering the car being 15-23k and me being 18), 8-10k is what I'm aiming for.
I love muscle cars but I hate the whole only goes fast in a straight line thing, but I hate that if you get an import everyone says herp derp ricer. What cars would you recommend? Has to be something easily modifiable, a car should be an expression of someones personality, dat HP and torque/power to weight ratio, good looking and handle well.
What are your recommendations? I've been looking at Honda S2k, mustangs (svt's or modded gt's), evo's, STi's, m3's and some others.
Feel free to post what you like, have driven, recommend.

best suggestions ITT so far. if I was 18 and I wanted a fun RWD muscle car for relatively low cost, I'd find an '05-'09 mustang GT to tinker with. the aftermarket is brimming with affordable options, and you'll have fun tinkering with it. reliable, mechanically speaking at least, as well.
i choose to stick with the german scene, so i've always been with E46s and have an E92 335i at the moment. you need to test drive some different cars to see what works best for you

This. Lol. And if you end up being dead set on a STi, why don't you just get a WRX? Your insurance will be lower, total cost will be lower, and you can still mod it pretty nicely. My best advice to you is to buy something less expensive so you don't have a ton of payments, insurance is gonna suck for you, I'll tell you that, especially on a financed vehicle.

AWD Turbo is a fun way to go, but keep in mind like everyone else said.. insurance is going to be a biitch, and the maintenance on either of those cars is pretty costly. They have really short maintenance intervals and require upkeep of front diff, center diffs and rear diffs + engine
Special fluid like mitsubishi diaqueen does't help cost eitherI rep back 1k+.

I had a 2004 GTO and while not the best looking car according to many, I loved it. Muscle car torque, interior on par to German cars, handled really well with sticky tires and aftermarket KW v3 coilovers, and mine was dead reliable. They're dirt cheap now too.
I would also look into e46 M3 but it will most likely be high miles, so be prepared to do some maintenance.
And of course, as others said, Evo and Sti are great choices but watch out for the insurance. I would also disagree with above poster about Sti being more reliable.
Look into C5 Corvettes and 03-04 Cobras as well.
Actually, scratch everything I sad and just get a cobra, they're bad ass and Im still dreaming of having one. They haul ass and can be made to turn decent.

Especially ones with an S85 swapped into it. I've got an 335, G35 and an avalanche. Would not reccomend the 335i, I wasted so much money on god forsaken POS. G35 has been perfect have only spent money on Gas/Oil. Reliable, VQ is pretty bulletproof motor. Looks and sounds pretty good. Luxury with some sport.
You can prolly get a G37 with your range. I have a few buddies with E46 and maintenance and be pricey. Would probably avoid unless you can get the whole history. In that price ranges you can prolly only get some higher mileage e46's M's maybe a ZHP E46? They're really nice cars, wanted one forever. S2k's or Mustang would prolly be good also. For some reason I can't get into Evo's/wrx. New BRZ me gusta thoLast edited by 1cheekykunt; 01-29-2012 at 10:35 PM.
