Carbup always messes up my vascularity. wut do?
Whats up guys I have noticed a really sad trend in me, After a 6 day carb deplete and increase H20 Intake I always seem to screw up my carb up to some extent.
Usually start half way through friday if the show is sat night, basically I completely lose my vascualarity even after cutting water and upping carbs and fats. I am dry by my vanes are tiny and barely visible.
I tried sodium loading = same thing
Tried not dehydrating as much = same thing
Tried consuming water while carbing up same thing.
The day after the show my vascularity is through the roof again..... what do you think can cause this?

Cutting water will cause you to come in flat, messing with sodium can be tricky, and it really all boils down to how lean you actually get. You're vascularity is probably really good after the show because you drank a lot, ate a lot, and weren't trying do anything fancy to look a certain way.
How do you look before trying to peak? If you look great before you start trying to peak, then why change anything?

100% agree....if you are happy with the way you look (hard, dry, full, vascular) don't do anything different and just cruise into the contest on Saturday. Carb depletion/loading, water and sodium manipulation, etc. can enhance a shredded physique IF all of the variables are managed perfectly and you know through trial runs exactly what works for YOU.....or it can be a disaster. 95% of competitors would look better onstage by NOT changing anything the final week.....

I would suggest not loading on as many carbs and keep your water and sodium the same as it is normally during prep.

Exactly....don't cut water, don't cut sodium, keep fats high, and take in adequate carbs. Instead....everyone tries to manipulate every variable the last few days and then wonders why they don't look like they did the week before or the day after!!!

Some great points guys, this year I will try doing everything the same way as through the rest of contest prep the only thing that will change the day before is that I will get out of ketosis as I am usually 12 weeks on Keto so I am quite depleted by the last week of the show. Also this year I will not be doing any cardio so that should help quite a bit with the muscle fullness.

Lack of sodium show day, a lot more sodium after post show binge.

6-day carb deplete? Seems a little excessive to me. How many grams of carbs are you taking in on these three days? The most I've ever used with clients and myself as well as researched has been a 3-day deplete. With a 6-day deplete, it's very tough to completely fill out for the show, especially since your carb load is only 1 day. This would be another reason why you look more vascular and full after the show. Most experts like Dorian Yates and Chris Aceto would say you need about the same number of days loading as you deplete. Dorian recently posted his no-nonsense final week peak in MD, I can pass it along to you if you like.

+1 ^^^
I agree when I enter peak week I do a 3-day progressive deplete. At the only time I go zero carb is for about half a day or one workout. My carb up has varied and I've found the best approach has been a more aggressive one and I don't need days to load
